Cream City is an historical nickname for Milwaukee due to the ubiquitous cream colored bricks of the buildings - made from clay of Lake Michigan. They are quite unique- also, this nickname started in the early 1800s when majority of Milwaukee denizens would have been speaking German and possibly some Polish - so any modern English connotations likely don't translate. Cream City is used in lots of business names and references.
