Good column on the need for justice for victims of sexual and violent crimes.

It's good to see this subject getting some column inches. Joan Smith has a piece in the Telegraph which Woman's Place have shared the link and the full text of on FB: www.facebook.com/494295627591295/posts/1367116643642518/

Posted too soon. The Telegraph article has more information about the recent court ruling that the CPS policy change of a few years ago was not unlawful, despite it seeming to lead to an already dismal conviction rate being further reduced. I'd like to see more discussion about the institutional misogyny which enables, if not actively enforces, this lack of support for women who've experienced sexual violence of any kind.

The Alice Thompson piece is really good. She's got much better over the years - I always thought of her as a right-wing commentator not particularly sympathetic to women's issues, but this is excellent.

This is brilliant. Sexual abuse is awful and there should be a zero tolerance for it.

It is such a good point about believing the women and let them talk about what happened to them without judgement and how that can help women deal mentally with sexual abuse.

She also had a good piece on teenagers at the weekend. Recently she was quite patronising on the sex/gender stuff iirc.

Violence and sexual offences against women and girls cuts through a lot of political and other crap, doesn't it. A violent or abusive man doesn't give a shit about a woman's political leanings or beliefs.
