Look at what they do, not what they say

From the 'Fess' FB page for my DC's university (where students can post anonymously). I find this so predictable and so depressing.

Look at what they do, not what they say

This is the problem and what feminists keep saying: it's not 'trans people are predators', it's that 'predators will take adavantage of trans rights to be predators because that's what predators do'.

Exactly this.

To believe any group are incapable of crime is very dangerous

Can we just have this on the MN home page please, to save us all the constant explaining?!

Indeed OP. The fear amongst young people of the consequences for wrongthink / speak is massive.

DaisiesandButtercups · 17/03/2021 13:23

When I was a teenager there was no topic I feared to bring up for discussion. I don’t recall any taboos among my peers. The same at university, I could ask any questions that I had without fear.

persistentwoman · 17/03/2021 13:27

You're right DaisiesandButtercups. It's all so regressive. How on earth these young people will cope when they get out into the wide world I dread to think.

@Nilbog

And who the fuck can she go to to discuss her fears at the University when they’ve all drank the Kool Aid?
She should go outside the uni.

Rape Crisis will assist women and girls regardless of the sex of the assailant. Some RCs (in Scotland, at the very least) have started hiring male-born counsellors so, if she hears a male voice, she may wish to hang up and try again another evening. RC counsellors are used to hang-ups (many women feel unable to speak when the call is connected) so this won't be unusual for them.

@TheRabbitOfCaerbannog

Poor girl. You just know don't you that there are going to be loads of stories like this that come out over time. Predatory types using trans umbrella identities as a cover to predate. Enjoying having power over women, enjoying the free pass that accusations of transphobia gives them.
We should collect evidence of them because, let's be honest, the press won't.
parentalhelpline · 17/03/2021 22:39

Anyone know who might collect this sort of thing? I'd be happy to pass it on with more details

We could make a thread here and also WPUK, FPFW, etc would be interested.

I'll see if I can pass it on to someone there.
