Starmer has tweeted he shares anger and disgust. This can't be swept away. Credit to the DoC and thanks to the pp who pointed out the significance of her not wearing a mask.

TheRabbitOfCaerbannog · 13/03/2021 21:22

@poshme

Some of the people at the vigil were holding ACAB placards. Was that really for sarah? Or people wanting to cause trouble.
This is why the police should have cooperated with organisers- to make sure the vigil was respected.

@Biscuitsanddoombar

This photo will be everywhere tomorrow. How can this have been handled so badly???
I cannot bear seeing this footage.

A dark, dark week for women.

I wish something could be done to stop it.

Who is responsible for this outrage? Sadiq? BJ? Cressida?

Nightbear · 13/03/2021 21:24

It shows the police for what they are.

Whenthesunshines · 13/03/2021 21:25

The photo of the woman with Auburn hair being arrested OP?
I have no idea. I wasn't there and don't know what happened.

minchinfin · 13/03/2021 21:26

God this is upsetting. I a have family member and acquaintances who are in the Met. I am really trying to to fall into the trap if associating that piece of shit with them, but tonight at Clapham Common, that photo - there's some institutional issues there for sure.

ChattyLion · 13/03/2021 21:26

I want to cry seeing this.

A minute ago you seemed certain that the police were dragging the women away 'to protect them', whenthesunshines. Now that the same woman is on the floor, held down by officers, you say you don't know.

This group did not look like women. It seems that where ever there is anger, there is a group ready to take the protest that bit further.

Erkrie · 13/03/2021 21:29

An officer from the met has been arrested (allegedly) for the murder of Sarah.

Woman want to hold a vigil for her.

The Met arrest women for this.

Very bad call. Shameful. Utterly shameful.

My feelings are with her family. I hope they don't see any of this.

A lot seemed to be appropriating the vigil for their own gains.

I described what I saw in the video.
How would I know what happened afterwards? As I said, I wasn't there.

CristalCarrington · 13/03/2021 21:32

@Whenthesunshines - The auburn haired girl was sitting quietly on the band stand, holding a made sign about not feeling safe.

She sat with three friends with her back against the pole, and tried to stay there while police were swarming around pulling at her and her friends. She looked scared more than anything and was looking ahead and trying to ignore the large male officer who had his hand on her arm and was shouting in her ear and ordering her to leave.

That photo must have been taken after they grabbed her and dragged her back.

There is a full feed on YouTube if you want to watch. You can see it was peaceful at the beginning, what happened when the police rocked up, and you will see it is calm and peaceful again now that the police have gone.

Her poor family

Whydidimarryhim · 13/03/2021 21:34

Bloody disgusting treatment of women by men again!!!
The police is filled with men of low intelligence who do not know how to deescalate a situation and go in heavy handed. Lots of bullies and narrow minded men. It is only a 13 week course to start your training. Very basic.
If police women had handled this situation it would have remained peaceful.
Something needs to be done - but what -
It is run by a female - where is she?
The police will spin it - violent protesters - breaking COVID rules - bla bla bla. It will be interesting to see the press tomorrow.
Maybe men are feeling threatened!!!
We’ve had ME TOO - Black Lives Matter - what about Women Matter
Sleep well every one.

Rob Jessel with image which shows what a TRF is tied to a free at Clapham Common vigil*

I'm horrified that someone thought it was appropriate to display that slur at a vigil for a woman who has been murdered, being as the slur is usually accompanied with some of the worst threats of violence against women I've ever seen.

Absolutely appalling.

It's disgusting

[quote TheRabbitOfCaerbannog]Footage on these threads. Met police manhandling women at a vigil for a female victim of male violence. It's making my blood run cold:

You forgot that the male was a met officer!
