Just that. Don't know where to start. I want one with meetings I can go to post covid. I'm old, in case that's relevant.

What are you hoping to put in/get from the group?

Which groups have you found that seem of interest?

In light of the recent Census decision I looked into Fair Play For Women because—basically—they invited others to join. Can’t find much yet about meetings or any local activity, but I’ll keep digging.

I suppose you should also decide on which feminist values you have (eg intersectional or not).

Go to the FiLiA conference, have a look round the various stalls and panels and see what appeals.

LangClegsInSpace · 13/03/2021 14:06

I second the FiLiA suggestion.

Thanks for the FiLiA suggestion. I'm going to go to the conference.

I’m sure it says somewhere but I can’t see the date of the FiLiA conference Blush

Scout2016 · 13/03/2021 17:20

16th-17th Oct. I'm really interested in attending but it's many hours away from me. Does anyone know of something similar, even if a fair bit smaller? Be happy staying over it's just the travel would add two days on. Sorry OP, don't mean to gategrash your post.

Is it in London? I can't see the info on the website. I'd not heard of them, great to see #sexbasedrights on their website.

Iwishihadariver · 13/03/2021 21:50

It's in Portsmouth I think in October. If you can't attend you can buy a solidarity ticket or donate. See their website.

ElfAndSafetyInspector · 13/03/2021 22:56

It's in Portsmouth this year and will be somewhere else next year. It was in Bradford in 2019 and Manchester 2018.

TwistedEyeOfHorus · 13/03/2021 23:54

I'd concur with ShagMeRiggins: a lot depends on what you want out of the group.
Look on a few websites, follow a few people on Twitter and see who echoes your opinions.

MsGrumpytrousers · 14/03/2021 02:02

Whereabouts are you, Kendodd? I'm definitely thinking that after covid I'll start a women's group: I'm between Cambridge and Saffron Walden.

Arguing about trans issues on Facebook and the women spouting TWAW and calling themselves feminists with zero knowledge of domestic violence or any of the issues facing women are all in their mid-20s, I think. Education needed.

Would love to hear from women who've been in one or started one and have ideas to share.

Taswama · 14/03/2021 09:09

Thanks Iwish and ElfandSafety . Good that it changes locations.

Kendodd · 14/03/2021 10:26

I'm in the south west so Portsmouth is quite convenient. I would quite like to take my two teenage daughters but I know they won't want to go. I have a 14 year old son as well and actually I think it would be more beneficial to womens rights if I took him and he listened to this stuff. I think ironically theres more of a chance he'd actually want to go as well. I wonder if he'd be allowed to go or how he'd be received?

Anyone else want to go and meet up? We could make a weekend of it?

I really want to go to the Filia conference this year if it goes ahead. I’ve never been before but I really want to spend time in real life with other women who centre other women.
