Solidarity with Jack Monroe, who is a great human being who does some wonderful things. Hugely brave of her to tell this. Yet another example of police ignoring women reporting crimes. And another reminder to remain sensitive to the complex reasons female bodied people may not always feel good about being female bodied.

How horrid for her.

So many wonderful women suffer just for catching the attention of the wrong man in the wrong mood. It’s heartbreaking.

MrsLangOnionsMcWeetabix · 14/03/2021 11:20

God that’s brutal. Jack, if you read this I think you’re so brave Flowers

BlackAlys · 14/03/2021 11:28

Harrowing. No other word for this.
Solidarity, Jack.

We have an awful long way to go.

Chewbecca · 14/03/2021 11:37

That’s a dreadful read.

What’s also dreadful is that I am not that shocked/ surprised that he got away with it.

Thecatonthemat · 14/03/2021 11:46

We believe you

Voteinvain · 14/03/2021 11:57

Flowers Jack. No words.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 14/03/2021 12:15

Huge sympathy to Jack. Police neglect of crimes against women is a crime itself, IMO.

Incidentally, did you notice a fake photo further down the same page?
mobile.twitter.com/BootstrapCook/status/1370638065807540225

Crimes against women are real. We don’t need to invent ‘evidence’.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 14/03/2021 12:27

The photo of a horse-rider apparently about to bash a suffragette’s head in. The horserider has been added to a genuine photo.

VivaBahhumbug · 14/03/2021 12:36

that man needs to be identified

He will be soon. There was enough there to do it easily. If he's as obsessed with her as she says he is he'll be following her twitter and quaking in his boots now.

TheABC · 14/03/2021 14:09

The police see it as too much like hard work. You only have to look at the threads on here where harassment gets repeatedly reported and ignored.
I believe Jack. And I hope she has found a measure of peace after dealing with so much shit.

StanfordPines · 14/03/2021 16:37

Not defending the action of the police here at all but they can only police the laws can’t they.
In this case what actual laws are being broken?

NiceGerbil · 14/03/2021 16:40

Loads of laws have been broken.

Sexual assault of a child be a teacher.
Stalking.
Probably more I haven't re read the Twitter thread.

NiceGerbil · 14/03/2021 16:41

Did you read the Twitter thread or not register the sexual assault of a child by s teacher and the stalking?

I don't understand how you can read all that and think well there's nothing illegal happened here.

NiceGerbil · 14/03/2021 16:43

Extortion
Threats to kill her male friend

Nothing illegal?

PotholeHellhole · 14/03/2021 16:43

Jack says she's left a lot out in case her son read it. I think we can join the dots there, although it would be horrible to speculate.

Additionally, just on what she has disclosed, I can't believe that a man could harass someone with such intensity over such a long period of time without slipping up and breaking the law.
