www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/mar/12/what-happened-women-uk-harassed-street?

Good to see an article about an everyday occurrence (quite nasty abuse) in the Guardian.
The sad points being made about the lack of support from nearby men and the 'obvious ' need to assess the seriousness of the threat and change her future routes, like it's just 'part of life'
From the excellent and clever Marina Hynde. Love that she still managed to joke (the fact that the article had to be funny is an ironic self-deprecating point in itself).
So, referencing other threads today - NAGWALT (Not all Guardian Writers Are Like That).
Interesting that there are no comments allowed on this. There normally are on her pieces.

Hyde not Hynde.
Was not supposed to be a Guardian ad, though it could be a Marina one!

I just finished reading this and came here to see if there was a thread. I thought it was excellent, especially at the end where she told her son they would be taking different routes home - this is such a good illustration of the little ways fear of violence affects women's lives all.the.time

It's so depressing that not only is it just part of life but her children are also just 'oh yeah, it's another Angry Man' on we go, hey ho. It's so normal that even the kids aren't really curious about it.

The heat map of harassment is a good idea, I wonder if there’s an app for that?

I like Marina Hyde. Always worth reading.
