This is trending on twitter, with a lot of women talking about what it's like to be a woman out walking alone, particularly at night.

But what is depressing is that I don't feel there is anything that will happen to change things.

Men are saying they hadn't realised what it was like for women. They might be more careful walking behind a woman at night but what will they do to actually make sure women are safer? Nothing.

Men are saying that they hadn't realised? Then what the fuck will they do?

Well, some are saying they hadn't realised. Others are saying, very predictably, that men also get attacked

Bollocks they hadn't realised.

We've been banging on about this for decades at least.

They either don't listen or they don't care. Take your pick.

There isn't a man alive who doesn't know women and girls were often fearful walking in certain places at certain times.

And have they missed all the adverts saying take a cab don't accept a drink stay with your friends blah blah.

I mean come off it.

It doesn't affect them, does it? No need to be too concerned. I think it is possible they don't know because they haven't listened or believed or put themselves in a woman's shoes.

But there's stuff all over the news all the time.

What man doesn't know that women stick together, get cabs etc

They're just not interested, most of them.

Lots are weirdly defensive when it's something like metoo as well.

Quite a few of my male colleagues went in the space of about 2 weeks

They were 'nice', normal men with wives daughters etc.
