Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

A detrans safe space

Feel free to yell at me if this is out of place, but I have been reading and viewing more detrans and desister stories recently and one thing they keep openly worrying about is being silenced.

They have so few places left to talk about their own experiences. At every turn they are monitored, reported, deleted, their truth denied and belittled.

I realise there are dedicated spaces for them, but MN is a huge platform that gives voice to many disparate groups and has, crucially, survived attack before.

My hope is that any detrans people reading this can believe that FWR would be a safe apolitical backup space for them to visit if/when they are silenced again.

I can't imagine any woman going through the struggle of detransitioning would not find other women here ready to listen and to support them. Supporting women with the tough issues of womanhood is something this board is pretty big on.

Absolutely 100% behind this.

My feminism is inclusive of all women (adult human females).

I have similar hopes OP, as MN has hosted trans widows threads and detransitioners and children of trans parents, they are all welcome.

If detransitioners are lurking, ignore the trolls. We are here and we are listening.

I'll give the benefit of the doubt in asking, does this go as well towards detransitioners who are silenced by gender critical people who refuse to acknowledge their truths because it doesn't fit the narrative that detransitioning proves transitioning is harmful and bad, and who have no interest in having their stories used to further restrict transgender health care?

eaglerising · 09/03/2021 21:01

@Evarish, I personally, would be interested to read and engage and be respectful. I will have my own take on what I hear, though, and I make no apologies for that so what they say might not change my own views. I am concerned with the erasure/de prioritising of sex based biological truth within some ideologies. However, I feel my own views are sufficiently nuanced not to be completely shocked by whatever anyone might say on the subject of de transitioning. I would look forward to learning more, all things considered.Smile

It's MN so there are no guarantees and I certainly can't provide any.
But FWIW I am personally listening to detrans voices, and fully respect their wishes not to engage in 'validity wars'.
I'm simply suggesting that as their spaces are under threat, and this is actively worrying them, that perhaps this would suffice as a place to connect and regroup if needed.
I have have no interest in re-traumatising or interrogating people who have been through so much.
