Aww. Nice blanket!

CharlieParley · 09/03/2021 10:52

Yes campaigners have stickered the country from top to bottom, left to right. Islands and Highlands, Lowlands, the Borders. Absolutely everywhere. I have seen some, but generally very little, discussion about stickering being vandalism. I have never seen it suggested that this is violence before or any condemnation thereof from these SNP politicians. Or that it is a crime that requires the police to be notified.

The same happened with the campaigns for and against Brexit. The whole country plastered over.

I cannot help thinking, if mere stickers make them feel so unsafe, why can they not extend any empathy to those of us feeling unsafe with males in female-only spaces?

This was posted for sympathy after all, so where is the sympathy for us?

Peaceful political protest in defence of women's hard won rights framed as violence to be suppressed by the police?

By our female (!) Minister for Equalities.

What world are we living in?

MishyJDI · 09/03/2021 11:01

Well at least they are not pushing statues into the harbour. Lols! Smile

I was too traumatised by the 'XX keep men out of womens prisons' ones... that I left them up. Traumatised I tell you. Shocked.

PopperUppleton · 09/03/2021 11:25

They didn't have a problem with all the Yes stickers in 2014. Funny that

WhoWh0 · 09/03/2021 11:49

So both offices mentioned above only had female staff working in them? Interesting....

Jumpintothefire · 09/03/2021 12:03

English here.

What does "Weesht" mean.

Dont make me Google. That used to go very badly on MN Grin

midgedude · 09/03/2021 12:43

Sush? ) I am also English )

TheChampagneGalop · 09/03/2021 12:47

It means "be quiet".

PurpleHoodie · 09/03/2021 12:51

Oh, thank you.

I like it. Wheesht. Wheesht.

Ill add it to the Welsh "Cwtch" in my like it list.

NecessaryScene1 · 09/03/2021 12:54

Am I right in that there's a background here of there being a general suggestion that groups should "wheesht" in the name of unity, so as not to disrupt the cause of independence?

Not sure where that started from though - was it initially used "straight" (like "woke" was), and then used to disparage the concept?

ArabellaScott · 09/03/2021 12:54

wheesht means be quiet.

ArabellaScott · 09/03/2021 12:55
  • sorry, cross posted. I'll haud ma wheesht.
Truthlikeness · 09/03/2021 12:55

@ItsAllGoingToBeFine

Kirsty Blackman has also been targeted Shock

My office is currently closed, though staff may be collecting mail or undertake other duties in the office, when necessary. Any vandalism or “statements” left at my office will be seen by my staff, not me. Those undertaking this kind of behaviour should consider the impact.

If you wanna disagree with me that’s not a problem. But it is absolutely not appropriate to inspire fear in my (all female) staff by targeting my office.

I will speak to my staff about this tomorrow and we will report incidents to the police where necessary.

(Two tiny stickers and a slate)

I've slipped into that alternate reality again, haven't I? The horror!
ArabellaScott · 09/03/2021 12:56

There's been a fair maount of that, Necessary, I see TRAs complaining similarly. AFAIK SNP members are explicitly not allowed to criticise teh party or the party's actions (I know, I know), and this has possibly led to more seething and festering resentment, as you'd expect such a bloody silly rule to do.

Outwithreason · 09/03/2021 12:56

It's worth a scroll through the replies to KB's tweet.

I also spotted someone hoping the politicians don't come across any "hateful haberdashery".

littlbrowndog · 09/03/2021 13:16

Was a hateful hateful advert in a paper.

Was a hateful hateful advert in a paper.
Oh, cracking!
NecessaryScene1 · 09/03/2021 13:20

Was a hateful hateful advert in a paper.

Yowsers. That's using a lot of tropes including "sentences", "English" and "questions" popularised by the alt-right, especially on 4chan and Lipstick Alley.

And I see some sort of handles for "Twitter", which is a well known radicalisation portal.

And "@" is a neo-Nazi symbol.

SunsetBeetch · 09/03/2021 13:22

I’m so relieved neither Kirsty Blackman nor Christina McKelvie were with me on my walk this morning. They’d have needed counselling. I’m having a lie down myself. At least I didn’t encounter any hateful haberdashery. #SmallMercies #StickerWoman #WomenWontWheesht
