@ChazsBrilliantAttitude thank you

MenopausalCrone · 09/03/2021 15:07

Glinner just mentioned Mumsnet!

MenopausalCrone · 09/03/2021 15:08

Said women's voices and rights have been silenced on FB, Twitter and even MN

RedDogsBeg · 09/03/2021 15:09

@stuckinatrap

I think the most jaw-dropping moment was 'sex is an umbrella term.'

If that doesn't cause an incredible number of people pulling 'wtf?!' faces then I don't know what will.

I do so hope they use that argument again!

That was my favourite quote too, closely followed by the Judge querying what social sex is!!
TalkingtoLangClegintheDark · 09/03/2021 15:10

Sex is indeed an umbrella term.
It covers both male and female.

RozWatching · 09/03/2021 15:12

Unbelievable we had to go to court to decide what Sex was

Quite. Because the ONS started fucking about with a £900m data gathering exercise.

Stonewall must have thought the census was in the bag when they recruited a NatCen executive as their new CEO. What a mess they've made.

Iamhangingin · 09/03/2021 15:12

@stuckinatrap

Whatever happens, the more court cases, questions in the Houses of Parliament and JRs where a judge says that 'because Stonewall told us to' is entirely unacceptable justification for policy, the better.

Yes, yes yes!

Shedbuilder · 09/03/2021 15:13

Who is the man questioning Helen and Graham? He's already started muddying the waters — saying he's gay and drawing a parallel between the situation in the 80s and 90s when gay men and people with AIDS were treated and the way transgender people are treat and then saying he's not drawing a parallel.

nauticant · 09/03/2021 15:14

What I'd like to see is for this to be covered in the Today programme tomorrow. The ONS Chief Statistician Professor Sir Ian Diamond told that programme in January: “The question on sex is very simply your legal sex”. But later the ONS did a U-turn leading to the mess in the High Court today.

I'd love for Diamond to be invited back onto the Today programme to comment.

gardenbird48 · 09/03/2021 15:16

@ArabellaScott

Perfectly understandable, Sia. I also don't publicise my address, I am sure many women have similar reasons - how many stalkers/violent exes are there out there? Lots, is the depressing answer.
Sorry for worrying anyone about this point Sia - I was thinking along the lines of the activists claim that trans people have a need for secrecy but this can’t be a claim only specific to them ie. women in physical danger. It sounds like it is the activists claim that is false.

It is good to hear that security of personal information is not an issue for anyone as it is protected by law though.

Datun · 09/03/2021 15:19

That was my favourite quote too, closely followed by the Judge querying what social sex is!!

Yes, I'd love that to finally have an answer, because that is exactly what gender identity is.

lanadelgrey · 09/03/2021 15:19

I can see the claimants have more they can put before a full hearing, but the defendants? Would their barrister be having a quiet word and saying I'm not sure about the weight of your evidence?

My god these people are stupid.
GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 09/03/2021 15:20

I've just read as far as the ONS judgement. PULLLLL!

TalkingtoLangClegintheDark · 09/03/2021 15:22

@PineappleCakes

I'm not on Twitter so thank you to those who've been relaying the tweets here GinBrew

And of course thanks to FPFW for their hard work and live tweeting ✊

Public information service for all those not on Twitter:

You can still access it.

If you just search “Twitter” you get taken to the log in page, but if you search, for example, “Twitter fair play women” you will get a hit for that Twitter account. And once you’re on the site, you can search for any other account you’re interested in.

You can’t see who has liked someone’s tweets or retweeted them, just the overall numbers, but you can see pretty much everything else.

And you can even see what those who use terfblocker are up to!

HTH! (Not sarcasm!!)

I echo your thanks to all those relaying the tweets on here nonetheless, and of course to Dr Nic and all those involved with bringing this case and getting the word out to the media - FANTASTIC job, all! 💜🤍💚

Redshoeblueshoe · 09/03/2021 15:23

And this thread is trending Grin

poorbuthappy · 09/03/2021 15:25

Helen and Graham's live is fascinating.

Thecatonthemat · 09/03/2021 15:28

Congratulations to Nic, FPTW and legal team, and a little teeny bit of pride for having contributed to funding this. Makes me think that really the GRC needs to be abolished for all purposes except for the 5000 who already have it.it is completely unnecessary and does not even mean you have changed sex, except for a legal phrase, and as the data collection is concerned , is a pretty much finite number. Let’s stop this pretence once and for all.

KitchenFairy · 09/03/2021 15:29

Helen and Graham's live is fascinating

How can I listen to it? I’ve clicked on the link upthread but it didn’t take me anywhere that I could see was obvious to click on!

persistentwoman · 09/03/2021 15:29

Good Point RozWatching. This is the problem - a gravy train that places Stonewall lobbyists into senior position after senior position, all signed up to promoting gender woowoo rather than facts, science and equality.

mamas12 · 09/03/2021 15:30

Congratulations everyone especially dr nic and fpfw and all of us who dug a little
Thank for doing this and thank you for all the updates
