There needs to be an FOI now to establish who the ONS engaged with which led to the change in position because in February they were clear that the census would record legal sex. Something happened between then and now which changed that position.

Secondly how much taxpayers money and civil service time will be spent to fix this.

ArabellaScott · 09/03/2021 14:37

Fantastic work FPFW. Congratulations, and thank you. Star Gin

GAHgamel · 09/03/2021 14:37

Well, we may not get everything we want out of this judgment, but the Judge appears to be ever so politely handing the ONS their arses on a plate at the moment.

nauticant · 09/03/2021 14:37

My day will be made if the judge refers to an ONS argument as #SuperSurprising.

supercritter · 09/03/2021 14:37

Amazing. 😃

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 09/03/2021 14:37

YES!

And the days of backroom deals and lying to the public about this stuff are OVER.

Xanthangum · 09/03/2021 14:37

Interim Relief Granted.

@OvaHere

*I think he means legal sex either birth cert or GRC. But not passport as those documents don’t record sex, but gender identity.* (Which is really all a GRC does, but is legally recognised.)

Statisticians can work with that data because there are records of GRC holders. The passport office has no idea (as the recently admitted) how many people have changed the sex marker on their passport.

Granted, it was more of an ‘aside’ comment. I don’t mean to derail.
FedUpWithBriiiiick · 09/03/2021 14:38

Permission for JR granted!

PaleBlueMoonlight · 09/03/2021 14:38

Wow - great, great stuff. So thrilled. Well done FPFW

MaudTheInvincible · 09/03/2021 14:38

@ChazsBrilliantAttitude

It is a win on two grounds:-
  1. Data quality - no self determination of sex either birth certificate or GRC.
  2. The concerns raised about institutional capture have again been shown to be justified.

Yep

Interim relief.
It’s a court order to fix a situation until a full hearing can be held on all the arguments.

Yes, anti-democratic shady dealings on matters that affect ALL of us need to be exposed.

Lucky I'd finished my tea.

Biscuitsanddoombar · 09/03/2021 14:39

Yesssss 🎉

highame · 09/03/2021 14:39

I have been scaring the bloody household to death with all my whoops and hollering Grin. It was certainly worth the donation

FindTheTruth · 09/03/2021 14:39

The 'interim relief' was to ask the judge to remove/change the guidance immediately before another hearing before census day. judge said it's the whole census. so guess that's it and no more hearing. INAL

"As soon as humanly possible"
