So today is #InternationalWomensDay

A day to remember how the rights of actual women are slowly being eroded day by day by individuals who seek to change the definition of woman. twitter.com/archer_rs/status/1368829642153455617?s=19

Just a reminder - don't like what I write, don't follow me.

I have taken the time to research and inform myself on this subject and my position is now very clear. The rights of women are being attacked and marginalised, that is not acceptable and I for one will fight that.

Followed by this:

A lot of misogynists being blocked by me today.

Very satisfying and apt on #InternationalWomensDay

And this:

There seems to be a lot of confusion here today so let me be clear.

A woman is an adult female human.

A man is an adult male human.

It's really not that difficult.

And this:

I'm getting a lot of criticism for blocking a lot of people today and "refusing to engage". Let me be clear I have spent the last few months in extensive research on this subject, I have formulated a viewpoint I am confident with and intend to post about.

1/2
2/2
I have no interest in your 'feelings' or your view of how the world should be but isn't.

The rights of actual women far outweigh people unhappy that I refuse to argue with them.

I will be blocking a lot more before the day is out.

And this:

An easy question.

If I, a man announce tomorrow that I am now a woman, have I magically become one ?

If yes how and when did it happen ?
If not yet, when will it happen and how
If no why are others able to make this pseudoscience change ?

As I expected, a lot of questions, a lot of criticism but not one answer.

...because it's the question not one of them dares to answer, if they do the whole charade come falling down around them.

Great to see a male(?) ally standing up like this. People refusing to be re-educated or cowed by the TRAs really makes me think the tide is perhaps beginning to turn

I'm extremely curious about RS Archer. This is the person who, last year, created a hugely entertaining but entirely fake thread about a British couple living in France who were shocked about the impact Brexit was going to have on them. Loads of people were taken in - it was very amusing. But RS Archer is almost certainly not this person's name, and the series of books he/she claims to have written doesn't exist.

But whoever they are, I'm glad to see them on our side.

InspiralCoalescenceRingdown · 08/03/2021 13:35

Isn't RS Archer a fake account?

I have been following him since his threads about Brian and Audrey next door (and their idiot son).
After seeing the tweets above I sent him a message to say Thank You and got a response back.

I feel, he's a very sensible man.

Isn't RS Archer a fake account?

It is yes, but with a huge following. My hope is that at least some of his followers will read those tweets and be enlightened.

It's a very strange account though. It's not an obvious parody account. On first sight it looks legit. It's only when you Google the name & books that you find out the person doesn't exist. So it is dishonest fake rather than pseudonymous anonymous. The whole English people in France saga was completely made up, so I don't know if the person behind the account actually holds the opinions they write or not. Are they just picking another culture war issue to increase traffic and noteriety?

They might explain the issues to followers who otherwise would know nothing about it. Maybe they will signpost people to others who talk about it. That would be useful. But when you can't know if the person's views are genuinely held it worries me and seeems inherently untrustworthy.

RoyalCorgi · 08/03/2021 15:11

I imagine the gender-critical views are sincerely held, otherwise why bother? No one wants the aggro. But who knows whether RS Archer is really a man, let alone whether he lives in France with his wife or writes books?

Barracker · 08/03/2021 15:45

Back when he went viral for the Brexit threads and people challenged it all as fake, he responded laughingly that of course his name was a pseudonym, his photo was an obvious stock image and that the writer of xyz series was an obvious cover, but I think he stood by his stories of the neighbours, admitting only to a little poetic embroidery in the conversations he described being not quite verbatim. His tweets about it may still be there. Some of the things he tweets about are obviously real.

He dropped hints a few months back about looking into GC stuff and got savaged by TRAs after posting a very innocuous comment. He follows a few of us on Twitter too, and has obviously been looking into this for some time. I'm delighted he's spoken up like this.

Manderleyagain · 08/03/2021 15:47

True, it is definitely not the easier view to hold online.

Apileofballyhoo · 08/03/2021 17:01

I've just done a post because I didn't see this. I'll get it removed. He is not backing down.

Helleofabore · 08/03/2021 17:10

Whoever they are, I loved their tweets on their life (even if imaginary) in France. I remember them getting so much flack from activists for even questioning this last year.

Maerchentante · 08/03/2021 17:12

No, he is not. Of course, he had some responses of "TWAW". On one of those posts someone answered with "Transplants are plants" which I love.

JosephineBaker · 08/03/2021 17:13

He writes very funny fictious ongoing tales. I love following his account.

RoyalCorgi · 08/03/2021 17:16

Someone on here had TransplantsArePlants as a user name a while back.

No, he's isn't. He's adding to his theme.

I don't know who he is, but he's done his homework.

PotholeParadies · 09/03/2021 01:23

I follow him on twitter. I always think of RS Archer as the same mould of man as John Cleese.

He likes puncturing ridiculousness. In fact, he relishes encountering the most frustrating people on this earth, because it's all comic material.

He is not going to back down. He's going to be ringing up HR departments and asking, "so, can you confirm that Mr Anime works for you between 9am and 5pm? Because he sent me a death threat at 2.30pm during working hours."
