Came across this this morning-
On international women's day!
Enjoy, I think it's very good.

Really? I don't dare to watch is it not full of "menstruators" and "people who have periods".

gardenbird48 · 08/03/2021 10:47

She has managed to mention the word woman so that’s a bonus. I haven’t got time to watch the whole thing.

gardenbird48 · 08/03/2021 10:48

Only once so far. It is noticeable in its infrequency.

Whatwouldscullydo · 08/03/2021 10:55

I managed about 3 mins. Its a bit try to hard and patronising
I get they are trying to.normalise but its too phoney.

I'm.also a bit uncomfortable with how many men/boys/males are involved. Not becuase I don't think they shouldn't know..of course they should. But I dunno.ot comes across as I its normalising a lack.of.privacy and making girls responsible for educating amd normalising it for the boys to if that makes any sense.

Whatwouldscullydo · 08/03/2021 10:56

Maybe it improves further on?

Only watched bits of it - everything I saw was great - women and girls mentioned appropriately - natural conversation, uninhibited, interviewing mixed group of year 7s and celeb who'd grown up with period poverty. So huge thumbs up for what I saw - probably around half.

No; women and girls referred to appropriately throughout.

I'm glad it is being raised and not confined to the 'girls only' chat in school.

UhtredRagnarson · 08/03/2021 11:37

BBC did a period info session with Dr Alex and I was very happy to hear the interviewer say “but doctor Alex, you’re a boy, you don’t menstruate” (she followed it with something like “so how do you feel talking about it?”)

UhtredRagnarson · 08/03/2021 11:39

It’s on the bbc iPlayer FB page. First video when you scroll down.

I thought it was really well done and there was a very good link to a 2019 article about Plan International and period poverty amongst girls.

BigBeachWales · 08/03/2021 16:57

It's really good!!! Aimed at 6-12 I think. Perfect tone and really accessible. Good job all round.
