Feel quite teary watching that. Thank you so much Johann. I'm in Ireland and we have not one single politician who will speak up for women on this issue.

As with access to abortion, Ireland will very likely trail long behind Scotland, England & Wales when it comes to recognising women's essential rights. Meanwhile those in power in Ireland will pat themselves on the back and preen about how morally superior we are to the British. Just like they did when they were locking women up in laundries.

She truly is stunning and brave. Those words so pointlessly overused for people who aren't either.

Hard not to be reminded again what a huge loss she will be

Heartfelt speach. I love International Womens day but have come to feel a bit jaded about it. This speach is a good reminder of reflecting what needs to be done in our own communites and internationally.

And Wednesday coming she will have to continue to fight to get sex included into the Hate Crime Bill( Scotland) while the Justice Minister tries to remove the need to collect sex data on hate crimes.

"Please also ask your MSPs to REJECT Amendment 24 by Humza Yousaf which proposes to downgrade the mandatory collection of data on hate crimes by sex to data that "may" be collected. There is currently no data on how many female victims of hate crimes there are across the characteristics, compared to men. Many organisations, including FWS and Engender, have stressed how important it is to have sex-disaggregated data."
