That's shocking.

No conflict, they say.
Rights are not a pie, they say.

It is quite interesting to see it laid out like that isn’t it? Scholarships especially can have such a massive impact of disadvantaged students and traditionally it is something that has been really good for girls in the US as they (I believe) need to spend quite a large amount on girls sports.

This kind of ruins it for so many girls.

I can't believe top level athletes, lawyers and academics etc came up with that bullshit.

That matrix clearly still shows that women and girls will still be disadvantaged at every level and every sport.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4175263--No-Trans-Olympian-List-of-women-and-girls-disadvantaged-in-sport-resource-thread

I started a thread with some of the names of the girls affected.

NotBadConsidering · 04/03/2021 11:08

Shanea Calhoun and Shayla Wallace, were the record holders for the 100m and 200m respectively. These records are now held by a biological male.

Bridget Lalonde cannot say “I’m the Connecticut State High School 100m champion.”

KC Grady and Nikki Xiarhos can’t describe themselves as state finalists, which is still a big deal and a great achievement, because they didn’t make the final because two biological males were ahead of them.

These girls matter. They are living, breathing examples of when trans rights negatively impact women’s and girls’ rights.

Sorry NotBad, I missed your thread. I came across this chart and was horrified at the scale of it. I know it was a problem but I never imagined how big of a problem it was.

No, don’t apologise, it complements it. I started my thread with the aim of giving the women and girls affected in such ways a living presence, to shine a light on them as people, rather than them being dismissed the way they are.

That’s a great document with some huge names supporting it. Edwin Moses, Greg Louganis, of course Martina.

There is also the much used photo of a woman’s netball team (actually it could be handball or volleyball I suppose) with a much older (and taller) team member.

I know someone who got a woman’s sports scholarship in the US - so this older person could have been up for that type of scholarship too even though they were a good 15-20 years older than their teammates? I assume that this person had already had their shot at HE and this was them returning.

lionheart goodness gracious that article is all ridiculous hyperbole including

Yet just this week, the Mississippi legislature sent Gov. Tate Reeves a bill banning transgender athletes from female sports

Errr no it's a bill banning males from female sports. Surely no problems?
Obviously, also if a female is on testosterone, a performance enhancing drug, then that should be looked at too wrt fairness in sport?
Why all the crying?

lionheart · 05/03/2021 22:09

I think they might have problems with the first hurdle, so to speak.
