The recent judgment of the High Court in Bell and A v Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust has generated significant commentary – online, in the media and among academics.

The decision raises important questions about appropriate clinical protocols for trans and non-binary young people, the capacity of children to consent to medical transitions and the proper role of judges in scrutinising youth healthcare pathways. As the judgment moves towards appeal, there is a need to reflect upon the reasoning of the High Court, and to explore both the immediate and longer-term implications of the case – both for trans and non-binary youth, and for the wider provision of healthcare to young people in England and Wales.

Worth going to see what the say. Odd that they want to do this before the next court date in June.

I would say reflection comes after the Supreme Court decision, unless they need to reflect on their actions to date.

I would have thought Robin would be busy with other cases 🧐 but took an hour out of their day to talk about stopping children from growing up.

Robin will be along shortly to tell us why we need to talk about this...
