The Census had unofficialy launched a month ahead of official date - knowing that there is a legal challenge to its validity

Have just seen this on facebook, and had been aware of a lot of publicity but assumed it was in the run up to the official launch date.

But turns out they have played a dirty trick. Angry From FPFW:

Lies, damned lies and statistics: Census dirty tricks won’t stop us

The ONS dirty tricks not only pushed that court date out of reach but has in effect pulled our deadline forward. Accepting census submissions a month early means the Guidance is, technically, already live so every single day counts. The longer the Guidance stays up the more difficult it will be to convince a judge to intervene and take it down.

We had two choices. Accept that we’d run out of time – let the Census run with the unlawful guidance – and then seek a declaration from the Court that the Guidance had been unlawful.

Or we redouble our efforts and find a way to get into Court even sooner.

Ffs the bastards

yourhairiswinterfire · 28/02/2021 17:02

Slimy. All they have are sly, underhand tactics.

What are they afraid of? If they're so right, why try and jeopardise the case against them? Surely decent people realise it'd be better to win it fairly rather than winning because they played dirty?

stumbledin · 28/02/2021 17:13

And of course this is the classic move by an established well financed organisation or company.

They know only too well that many court cases that would have been won in court, dont win because they run out of money trying to get to court.

So FPFW are now having to instruct Barristers etc., file new papers and so on which will only add to the existing legal costs.

Creepy little fuckers, once again.

They can't ever face an actual argument can they?

Whatsnewpussyhat · 28/02/2021 17:17

Came up on my FB feed.
So fucking sly. Just like the Scottish hate crime bill. Pretend they have listened to women they fuck them over.

bellinisurge · 28/02/2021 17:19

Just ordered a paper form. Will write biological female on it when asked my sex.

OhHolyJesus · 28/02/2021 17:20

Cheating bastard - this will not endear them to anyone.

Redshoeblueshoe · 28/02/2021 17:25

Bastard's

ChattyLion · 28/02/2021 17:27

I’m shocked they would do this. How absolutely authoritarian and arrogant for a public body to go ahead knowing there’s a key legal challenge outstanding. How is this respectful of the dataset or the taxpayer? Is there media coverage of this?

It makes them look like they don’t care about the quality of data (if the JR requires them to make a change in future, then obviously it will compromise whatever they collect now..).
And as they are publicly funded, where is the proper custodianship of our data, resources and public trust that we all should be able to have in the proper running of the census.

How on earth has pushing forward this male sexual entitlement ideology become more important than acting democratically and with respect for due process or even just acting normally as public bodies have a duty to do, in line with their proper bureaucratic responsibility to act prudently with public resources? (Data, money, time, trust and cooperation, creating a reliable dataset to use for the future public good like planning future services needs)

Biscuitsanddoombar · 28/02/2021 17:30

This is interesting

www.bbc.com/news/uk-51468919

I wonder if they don’t care because this could be the last one....

ChattyLion · 28/02/2021 17:39

Fucking hell.. and no we won’t be able to use all these ‘other datasets’ like he’s hoping because hardly any of them will be collecting biological sex data either.
It’s even worse than I thought.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 28/02/2021 17:55

Makes me laugh how they can pretend there is somehow more than 2 sexes.

They apparently consulted groups on this question, that has been the same for the last 200 fucking years, with the same 2 possible answers unchanged since the dawn of humanity.

Yet again only ever one sided consultations. All about male feelings over facts.

Funneth · 28/02/2021 18:03

Insane. I remember back in school we were distinctly told the difference between sex and gender. Sex isn't something you can change and that shouldn't be a problem. Things are gonna get a bit tricky for ya when you're past middle age and at the time in life when males develop certain conditions more than females but your doctor won't be aware to check you for them as they believe you are the opposite sex. Good luck with that.
