It wasn't just Monklands WA that had its funding cut. So did North Lanarkshire WA and Motherwell District WA

Have only just seen this on facebook. As one commentator said, how many bed spaces in women's refuges have now been lost in this one area?

The facebook post says:

Scottish Women's Aid is appalled at steps taken by North Lanarkshire Council to defund Motherwell District Women's Aid, North Lanarkshire Women's Aid and Monklands Womens Aid.

A catastrophic outcome for women and children experiencing domestic abuse who deserve access to specialist support.

Other funding sources mean these services will not have to close their doors at this time. However, their capacity will be affected and their continued reliance on short-term, precarious funding streams is a threat to the rights and safety of women, children and young people.

Appalling

Apparently they all should be centering men. Despite the fact that women account for over 90% of domestic abuse victims and many escape with their children. Women more likely to suffer serious injuries and 3 women a week murdered during lock down.

Why the fuck can't they just organise and open men's refuges separately instead of removing vital resources at the time they are needed more than ever.

Especially considering the ridiculously disproportionate funds being handed by the government, lottery etc to the trans lobby and woke groups to push their ideology.

The incoming CEO of WA seems to have a handle on where their services are most needed. At least, she has for the time being. I'm sure she'll have plenty of offers of re-education soon.
