metro.co.uk/2021/02/25/male-lab-worker-sues-for-sex-discrimination-after-boss-said-man-up-14143717/

The Metro article only gives one side of the story, but is does look like unfair treatment due to sexist attitudes.

My goodness. Wasn’t that long ago that the boot was firmly on the other foot and women were routinely subject to this. Not that this makes it alright.

But a male boss would possibly just play the ‘its only banter’ card (like in the case if the woman who worked in the fisheries office in Aberdeen www.nytimes.com/2018/05/24/world/europe/scotland-woman-bound-work.html?)

I hope his case is taken seriously. If the things outlined are true, it should be her arse flying out the door and the whole place needs overhauled for sexism.

I hope this is taken seriously as well. I have spent most of my life in a male dominated industry and have been shocked at what men in those industries are supposed to do with no question as women are encouraged to use aids/equipment/help/etc to do the same work. There is a machismo about the whole thing that is disturbing. As the wife of a man on disability for back injuries that would have never happened had he been subject to the same safeguards that women have in these jobs, I am a little peeved at that "Sack up, man" bullshit. It is exploitation of another flavor. Man related, not the scope of this board, but it is part of the problem.

I agree he has been discriminated against, I hope he wins

To be honest, if this was the other way round there would be an outcry.

Saying a man is "only useful for lifting boxes" IMO is just as sexist as for example a man saying a woman is "only useful for standing around being pretty".

I think she just wanted her workplace to be girls only and simply didn't want any men there.
