I'm not sure if this has a thread already but I noticed that Mrs Y is desperately short on carrots...

Thanks OP, will dig. I really feel for these parents. I'm sick of this attack on girls exploring sexuality. It's so wrong. It's worse than it was in the 1980s. Yet another case of mistreating a non conforming girl (or possibly transing away the lesbian )- she could be straight. She could be lesbian. she could be bi. same-sex attracted females come out later than same-sex attracted males. whatever it is, she wasn't born in the wrong body. she's perfect as she is but is on course for a medical pathway. her mother needs help. she needs help.

Mrs Y's case - extract:
"Our story

I am the mum of a 16-year-old girl who is currently being seen by the Tavistock clinic. Having learned about being trans on the Internet she identifies as a boy and says she wishes to medically transition. From the very first interactions with the clinic, our daughter’s belief that she is a boy has been affirmed. She has a diagnosis of autism and was (before coming out as trans) exploring her sexuality and romantic attraction to girls. It seems possible that these things may be contributing to her current feelings about gender but I don’t believe that the clinic is exploring them in any depth. Rather, it feels they are leading us on a pathway to medical transition. Our worry is that by simply continuing to affirm her chosen identity rather than adopting a more watchful, waiting and curiously questioning approach, the medical pathway becomes the most likely outcome for her"

I can't seem to find this fund? What should I google?

FindTheTruth · 24/02/2021 18:29

I googled 'mrs y gids'

Signalbox · 24/02/2021 18:33

Oh yes thanks :)

Sunkisses · 24/02/2021 18:39

Thanks. I had not heard about this potential case before (found it by using google instructions above). Good on this woman. She still needs to raise another £2,200 to get to her initial target. It is important that the GIDs policies are challenged.

Procrastinator3 · 24/02/2021 19:02

I've done some digging. Really important that these guidelines are scrutinised.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 24/02/2021 19:07

Thanks for this OhHolyJesus

Fallingirl · 24/02/2021 19:10

I think this one flew under our radars, for some reasons. Have dug a bit.

Toomie · 24/02/2021 19:36

Thanks OP.
Have just dug too.

Lordamighty · 24/02/2021 19:41

Digging done.

Manderleyagain · 24/02/2021 19:46

I found it tricky to find. Found it by googling as above plus crowdjustice. I'm not sure how this will fit in with the Keira Bell appeal, but it directly asks the court to decude if the wpath standards of care (or whatever they're called) are lawful. Which is question worth asking.

Just a note - I'm pretty sure the clock ticking down doesn't mean anything now that the appeal is towards a stretch target.

OhHolyJesus · 24/02/2021 20:29

I was a bit worried that the amount achieved was low in comparison to its stretch target so just wanted to give it a boost.

I think the fact that the child concerned is autistic is a key point and would again call the consent factor and the method of assessment and affirmation into question in court again on a different premise to that of Keira's case.

I hope it's another nail.
