Canada, Scotland, it's getting closer

So, I saw that medical students in Canada are being taught that women can have penises
thepostmillennial.com/university-of-british-columbia-medical-school-teaches-that-women-may-or-may-not-have-a-penis
Scotland appear to have lost the plot, except that For Women Scotland are now contemplating fielding candidates to state woman = adult human female in the May election, the magnificent Hibo Wardere is fighting women's corner, whilst in Spain effigies of their (woman) Vice President are being hanged, nowhere is safe - and I am worried. Everyone must do whatever they can to fight this, I am terrified on my daughter's behalf, anyone else feeling this way?

I've lived through some awful events in UK history but I don't remember it being this bad.

Justhadathought · 21/02/2021 20:06

I really do think that in time; and it will take time, society will look back on this as an extraordinary episode. When something has so many internal contradictions, it eventually collapses.

Whoop!

twinkletoesfairy · 21/02/2021 21:04

@Justhadathought I agree, but I really thought we would have got there by now - it is absolute madness, people are lying left, right and centre, and no-one is actually saying 'what a load of rubbish', look at the politicians still being elected, it needs to hurry up and collapse.

@ArabellaScott Yes, I did suggest this maybe the way to get politicians to take notice in England - the connection is then made with UKIP, but whatever your views it worked - I would definitely consider standing against my woke MP.

Each province in Canada has its own health authority, but in British Columbia this would be no surprise. The trans advocacy there is heavy. I'd be curious if Morgane Oger was involved in the consultation leading up to this.

Oh how amazing it would be to have someone to vote for! Of course w=ahf may be a hate crime by then 🤯

This is so chilling it makes me want to throw up.

This sort of hate would not be tolerated if it was directed with racial slurs and messages of domination at Jews, Muslims, Catholics, black people, etc. by white supremacists or neo-Nazis. But at women and lesbians, they will probably get away with it. It’s horrifying.

How can politicians and police forces see this sort of thing and not realise that they are dealing with deranged and dangerous people? All that’s missing are the swastikas.

I immediately wondered whether a woman who wants to reveal some of the more extremist positions created it.

Then again it’s impossible to call because as anyone who read the Edinburgh Action for Trans Health manifesto will attest, there are some very extreme views in some supposedly mainstream transactivist groups.

Babdoc · 22/02/2021 10:05

The answer in the May election is to vote for whichever candidate has the best chance of defeating the SNP. If they don’t have a majority in Holyrood, even with the help of their Green buddies, then they can’t pass any of this misogynist shit legislation.

Mermoose · 22/02/2021 10:16

I do think that most people have no idea of what their constituency candidates say on Twitter. I'm Irish so that's where I notice it, but a few months ago for example we had a Donegal politician frothing at the mouth about 't*rfs' - I just don't believe that the majority of Donegal voters believe that acknowledging biological sex is a hate crime.

I think if politicians really had to explain on the doorsteps how they came to the conclusion that women no longer deserve single-sex spaces, that it's evil to question the use of puberty blockers, and that being male and female is down to a feeling in your head not an objective biological fact, they might actually start engaging their brains.

Declared "false flag" by @/KatyMontgomerie

Feb 15 2021 (see thread)

"Have you ever seen a more blatant false flag?

Yet again #GenderCritical people are posting up abusive stuff and trying to pass it off as trans people doing it

I have absolutely ZERO doubt that a GC person did this. I'd bet my year's salary on it. It's not remotely subtle"

Took me ages to find those!

I have to admit that on closer inspection the text on the flags looks more like a compilation of

a) things actually said by trans activists/TRAs

b) summaries of various "trans rights = women's rights" issues (some definitely do NOT look as if the text has been written by TRAs)

I am inclined to think that they have been put there as a protest to illustrate the issues.

If they were intended to mislead people into thinking they were placed there by TRAs, they don't bear close inspection so a FAIL

@MaudTheInvincible posted them in the other thread.

What do you think, Maud? If these are "false flags" (literally!) then they need to come off the other thread.

Sorry, I've no idea if they're false flags or not, I just saw them on twitter, posted by an account I believe to be GC and maybe Scottish. I've frequently thought that twitter handle is a MNer. Perhaps she knows where the photo came from?

I'm not convinced they're actual quotes, but agree many of the phrases are similar to ones I've seen used by TRAs, in both content and tone.

I do have to say that I'm unable to view Katy Montgomerie's tweets so haven't seen any declaration that they're not really the work of TRAs (no real Scotsman?), but I've got no reason to think KM is more or less likely than anyone else to know the origin of them, and no reason to think KM is being more or less honest than usual.

@MoleSmokes there's this on twitter re the flags: twitter.com/Obsolesence/status/1361298271847800834?s=20
