Fabulous!

Dalyesque · 23/02/2021 00:24

Anybody else not seeing the site?

MoleSmokes · 23/02/2021 02:09

Shit!! The whole site has been deleted!! Those BASTARDS!!!

This is all that’s left 🤬

I expect FPFW have a backup but FFS the attacks on women’s sites over the last few days are off-scale!!

Datun · 23/02/2021 02:22

What site? I'm still accessing FPFW website and also the crowdfunder

MoleSmokes · 23/02/2021 02:48

@Datun

fairplayforwomen.com/

Completely blank.

Crowdfunding site is OK though.

Try refreshing your browser to see if it makes any difference - you might be seeing a cached version on your device/computer.

I’m getting this now as the URL if I refresh:

fairplayforwomen.com/.well-known/captcha/

Datun · 23/02/2021 02:50

I'm getting the site every time mole. Even on a different browser.

Datun · 23/02/2021 02:51

Straight in.

MoleSmokes · 23/02/2021 02:57

Tried a different browser and in that I can see a message saying the site thinks I’m a robot and to complete a Captcha. Done that twice correctly but it is not recognising the correct input Confused

MoleSmokes · 23/02/2021 02:59

Well, it’s good news that the site is not down - just that it’s not playing right for some of us.

Clymene · 23/02/2021 04:11

It's working fine for me too.

MrsJamin · 23/02/2021 08:24

bump - this is really important

MaudTheInvincible · 23/02/2021 09:20

Head to head with Nancy Kelly of Stonewall?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/02/2021 09:23

Wow, really?

I might be missing something, but can't see a Stonewall guest?

hallouminatus · 23/02/2021 09:43

Stonewall will want the discussion to centre on the optional question on gender identity. The "Stonewall Statement on the 2021 Census" does not even mention the sex question.

It's a bit worrying that the Woman's Hour webpage also seems to suggest that FPFW are challenging the inclusion of of a question on gender ID:

The census next month which collects data on every household in the UK every ten years will have a new question this time. As well as the usual question "what is your sex,"? there will be a supplementary question about gender identity. The campaign group Fair Play Women have launched a legal challenge against the Office for National Statistics which they have until 6pm tomorrow to respond to. We talk to Dr Nicola Williams from Fair Play for Women.

But I trust that Nicola will make it clear what the case is about, and it's bound to give the fundraising a boost .

Xanthangum · 23/02/2021 09:44

No the only mention of SW is on the FPFW tweets.

I await this with interest, just the fact that - apparently- the ONS position is being defended by Stonewall (rather than putting up their own spokesperson) speaks volumes

BuntingEllacott · 23/02/2021 09:57

I don't think I can listen live. I think I'll wait.

Datun · 23/02/2021 10:03

Indeed. Are stonewall now the official mouthpiece of the ONS?
Wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 23/02/2021 10:10

Over 51,000 carrots so far.

I'll dig a little more on payday.

Cailleach1 · 23/02/2021 10:32

NK from Stonewall says that the 'gender' question will make LGBTQ+ more visible. Do L, G or B people identify as another gender? Is that not just T and queer theory afficionados?

I thought the whole problem was that L, G or B is a sexual orientation and the others were identities.

gardenbird48 · 23/02/2021 10:45

Wiw! I’ve just listened and I hope it’s not just me but Emma actually seemed to introduce the issue in an unbiased way, introduced Dr Nic with her title (I’m not sure if she’s got firm for not doing that but I am watching after Caroline Noakes totally rude treatment of the female professors in the GRA evidence).

She asked straightforward, non leading questions (I think) and overall seemed to treat both guests fairly.

I found Nancy’s ‘sing song’ way of speaking a bit odd and I thought she contradicted herself when she was trying to claim that accurate data is really important but then supported the guidance which will allow inaccurate data to be collected.

The funniest but was when she tried to claim that the gathering of inaccurate sex data would help women but then realised that was a load of rubbish and tailed off...

And grr she used the c word.

Has Emma been ‘educating herself’ I wonder?? She definitely sounded far less hostile to Dr Nic.

Manderleyagain · 23/02/2021 10:48

That discussion was pretty good. I thought the questions from Emma Barnet were the right ones. ONS refused to go on. Stonewall obviously claim responsibility for getting the gi question & sexual orientation question added (something about how stonewall achieved it).

Nicola tried to get across the importance if accurate sex data in sub groups of the population by talking about how recording sex as gi is skewing data on crime & offenders. But it's a difficult principle to get across - the census sets the standard for all data so its important beyond the data that it will actually collect.

The breast reduction item that followed was good.

Xanthangum · 23/02/2021 10:48

If I have understood Nancy correctly, T people have been lying since 1801 so why stop and try for accurate data now?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/02/2021 10:50

Seriously? That's hilarious.
