Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Fed up - should we all just identify as men?

So, I feel that the absurdity has taken over. Not sure what to do about it. If we all identified as men in meetings (he/his), on the census etc - would this act of disobedience highlight the ridiculousness of the current capture?
If would need huge numbers to do so… Anyone with me?
No need for hormones etc - if identifying is just a feeling, then who is to tell me/us that I NOT a male?

I am questioning the value of completing the census if it doesn’t collate the correct figures on sex.

I think this is probably the only way to really highlight the ridiculousness of the situation. He/ his for pronouns while remaining otherwise completely female. Massed ranks of women going to doctor's surgeries to talk about their prostate problems and having to pee at night. Women insisting on competing in male sports and races (preferably nothing too physical — crown green bowling anyone?), women applying in their masses for traditionally male roles and insisting they're men. And I think women have got to start going into mens' loos and making their presence felt, too. And swimming in the men's pool at Hampstead, obviously.

Since the census is used to allocate resources it is vital we do declare ourselves as women, and bizarrely if all the TW do as well it will mean more resources for women.

I can't see any way for women to subvert the census without being damaging to ourselves tbh. Which is quite annoying.

Unless there's some way of using the religion question to do it....

ncccc2 · 15/02/2021 23:36

if you like.

Thelnebriati · 15/02/2021 23:48

I'll be filling it out correctly. I see no sense in trying to undermine or subvert the census, and favour a work to rule protest instead.

I'll be sticking to the letter of the law, and will keep an eye on the ONS to make sure they do as well. (They've taken a very creative attitude towards equality in the past. Until recently, they didn't even keep statistics on rape if the victim was over 60.)

PamDenick · 16/02/2021 00:44

Perhaps I don't mean on the census.
But if in any meetings we are asked for our pronouns etc, then we can't be criticised?
If this whole debate is all about 'feelings' then who can tell us we are being ridiculous or subversive if we all suddenly identify as men? Who can argue with our feelings?

Do you know about the great Man Friday campaign of 2018?

PamDenick · 16/02/2021 01:29

No, I didn't. I'm obviously a bit late to the party…

But still needed.

Absolutely! I’m just providing historical context.

It would certainly make certain men take notice if we did I'd as men then demand access to typically male clubs and spaces. Imagine the fury if we overun the golf clubs 🤣🤣

Sadly what the Man Friday campaign did was to illustrate, clearly, visibly and irrefutably, that men continue to know the difference between men and women, clearly see the unfairness of say the primogeniture laws, but simply don't care because their power is not threatened.

Part time male cross dresser rocks up at the Hampstead Women's Pool: "Come right in madam."

Group of women in male bathing trunks rocks up at Hampstead Men's Pool: "Wait there, ladies, while we call the police."

Sadly all Man Friday managed to show was that the men in positions of power know exactly the levels of illogical absurdity the genderist position entails, they just don't fucking care because their lives continue completely unaffected by the insanity.

TomatoesAreFruit · 16/02/2021 07:00

I would identify as a man. But we would need millions of women to be willing to do this for the ONS to take notice.

Marley20 · 16/02/2021 07:06

@caraduneredux

I shall read up on the Man Friday campaign, I fear it will depress me 😩

CaraDuneRedux · 16/02/2021 07:15

@Marley20 it was a brilliant and creative protest which did get column inches, and the women doing it were heroes (it took real guts to walk into a men's space topless - I remember one of the organisers writing about it here).

But ultimately it demonstrated just how immoveable male power structures are (and also underlined just how much the TRA movement really is a men's rights movement).

Incidentally lest anyone say "well the real reason the Man Friday protestors were removed was they weren't 'trutrans'", round about the same time a transman local-ish to me was denied entry to a men's changing room on the grounds that he had not yet had a double mastectomy.

Meanwhile, also at the same time, part time cross dresser Philip/Pips Bunce was winning a business woman of the year award.

LongPauseNoAnswer · 16/02/2021 07:37

The biggest issue is that men would probably welcome women in their bathrooms or at least not give a fuck. It’s not until their lives are being impacted by this nonsense will anything significant change.

We need to find a way to impact these men’s lives in a way that highlights what is happening to women. Unfortunately until then they’re deaf to our plight.

PamDenick · 16/02/2021 11:19

Good point. That Transrights are just male rights…

and well done to the brave women who have already done this.

Let's keep up the pressure.

I think you would have to break man etiquette and really stare at their cocks whilst using a shepee at the urinal. I can't think of a downside.
