I've binged Its A Sin recently and have seen Nat's interviews on the Daily Mail. I just caught the end of him being interviewed by Lorraine the other day and noticed the word 'gender' on his t shirt but couldn't see all of it. Googled it, and it says 'Gender is a construct, honey'.

Anyone else think this is a dig at her recent interview with EI??

I hope so. She is a numpty.

OvaHere · 14/02/2021 10:21

Hard to say. People have so many different interpretations relating to the word now.

chestnutSquash · 14/02/2021 10:54

I can't watch her. Too much hypocritical fawning.

Barracker · 14/02/2021 10:57

If there's one thing I've learned, it's that TRAs don't have any understanding of their own purported views. This means they will happily parrot two entirely contradictory sentences one after the other, and neither know nor care that what they are saying makes no sense. They use catchphrases and repeat tropes, they condemn as bigoted a statement of fact from their enemies and then use that exact statement themselves entirely unaware. Because they don't understand the views they proclaim.

Nothing of what they say makes much sense and they have long learned to make their peace with that. If you start from the premise that you are going to pretend you don't know what female means, you have to adjust to the idea that everything else you say is equally a pretence.

So. Gender is a construct. Yes. A really harmful one, that shouldn't be revered, respected, protected as a characteristic or written into laws.

And sex is a hugely important immutable characteristic that shapes the lives of every person.

Too long for a t-shirt logo.

Looking at twitter, it’s a sin seemed to peak a number of middle aged gay men who were there. Apparently it didn’t feature enough about trans....

Oh it’s when people who weren’t even born then banging on about section 28 and today’s gender wars. Makes you want to scream!

chestnutSquash · 14/02/2021 12:35

If you didn't live through the 80s you really have no idea. Dark times. I worked in local government back then and the environmental health department were working flat out on HIV/ AIDS.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 14/02/2021 12:39

Indeed. People were literally dying. Actually Falling ill and wasting away. And today’s numpties... och don’t get me started.

chestnutSquash · 14/02/2021 12:52

And it was a slow, painful, awful death.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 14/02/2021 12:57

Somehow today’s generation doesn’t seem as if they are strong enough to endure such a reality. It wasn’t sugar-coated or given euphemisms. It wasn’t romanticised. It was reality - it was actual life and death.

That twitter page is a delight though. Femme Loves, Maya Forstater and Rachel Rooney:

'Roses are red
Violets are blue
I don't have a gender
And neither do you!'

'Roses are red
or maybe they’re blue?
If only the
@ONS
knew which was true'

'The census is flawed.
Just tweak it a smidgen.
Tick gender identity
under 'Religion'.'
