Solidarity in Aldi today!

This is my first thread in a very long time but I wanted to share the uplifting and fabulous experience I had today in Aldi😂

I reached 'peak' during the last lockdown and lurk regularly on here while trying to make sense of the madness.
DH is supportive to a degree but very nervous of me being vocal about my GC views as we are both teachers. I am a middle leader in a secondary school and he worries about me getting sackedConfused
So I can't discuss this much IRL.

Anyway, queing outside Aldi today and saw a woman a few people ahead of me with a 'Woman
Noun
adult human female' tote bag. I was thrilled and as soon as there was an opportunity (by the fruit and vegWink) I told her I liked her bag and that I knew what it meant.
She said I had made her day; I replied I she had made mine. Then she said 'Solidarity sister and see you on the next march'
We went on our separate ways but bloody hell it was brilliant. To vocalise it and be recognised. Felt a bit emotional and even now re-writing it, am a bit teary.

Just wanted to share. It was wonderful.

Thank you all for your knowledge, I am learning and realising that this is how I feel too. I might have to get myself some stickers.....

Impatiens · 13/02/2021 22:34

No problem @SingingSands, I feel the same - always something new! Smile

SophocIestheFox · 13/02/2021 22:34

Soboredofcorona · 13/02/2021 22:38

Soboredofcorona · 13/02/2021 22:40

Set of 3 bags fold down shopping bags for £10 are available if you click under ‘desirables’ and scroll down.

Winesalot · 13/02/2021 22:41

It is always a relief to discover you are not the only one feeling like the emperor has no clothes. And that the cognitive dissonance is overwhelming.

It is such a relief to understand that you are no where near alone, that actually, it is more that people don’t look beyond the mantra of ‘be kind’ or ‘be nice’ yet. When you start asking the hard to answer questions around prisons, refuges, sports etc, you get very different answers.

Interesting thread.... Is there such a thing as GC males and how do women who transition to male feel about this?

NotFabulousDarling · 13/02/2021 22:44

This brought tears to my eyes OP.

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 13/02/2021 22:45

Standing for Women’s hoodies are very cosy, and have a convenient pocket for stickers.

There’s no feeling like coming across a sticker that you weren’t responsible for!

VivaDixie · 13/02/2021 22:45

Nice one OP - i am going to buy a sweatshirt and wear it proud Flowers

Caaarrrl · 13/02/2021 22:46

I'm a primary teacher and we have these posters displayed around our school.

Datun · 13/02/2021 22:47

I do wonder how this is all going explode when lockdown ends.

Gcnq · 13/02/2021 22:48

I'm dying to get the yellow running top, but I have never spoken to ANYONE about this so I literally have no idea if wearing it will result in a negative like they'll spit in my face reaction, or a good reaction.
No idea!

But keep it going bag wearers. I'd love to see you out there!

Bit of a mixed up question. But yes there are GC males.

Women who identify as male are not a hive mind though. Many differing opinions.

Winesalot · 13/02/2021 22:50

There are GC males. There are also GC transmen and transwomen.
waterlego · 13/02/2021 22:50

@Tubs11 There are GC males, yes! Some of the more vocal ones are gay men who grew up being called ‘girly’ or being made to feel they weren’t ‘proper’ men. They, like we, feel that being male or female is a biological fact and has nothing to do with what your interests/skills/clothing choices/mannerisms/behaviours might be.

But some of them are straight men (like my husband) who is GC, largely thanks to listening to my rants and musings over the past few years.

waterlego · 13/02/2021 22:51

Buck Angel is an example of a GC transman.

MsInterpret · 13/02/2021 22:54

@Caaarrrl

Thanks for the link to those posters. Have just emailed to my work address for some post-half term printing.

SophocIestheFox · 13/02/2021 22:56

I am also married to a GC man. He believes in fair play like it’s a religion and can’t fathom how anyone can look themselves in the eye and advocate for male bodies in women’s sports.

SirSamuelVimes · 13/02/2021 22:57

Yep also married to a GC man, also have GC male friends.

Winesalot · 13/02/2021 22:58

And Scott Newgent They just started a campaign for balance in media. And honest reporting. in line with the Swedish government I guess.

My heart breaks when I read Scott’s story, yet they are fighting for better care. Very courageous.

Winesalot · 13/02/2021 22:59

Scott is a transman.

MrsWombat · 13/02/2021 23:00

I’ve seen these on Amazon too. Fab stuff, and I’m glad the OP connected with a real person on this. Tempted to get one myself. Smile amazon.co.uk/dp/B08WLLNHPR/]]

Ginfizplease · 13/02/2021 23:00
