Kamala Harris is being called Jezebel

Kamala Harris is being called ‘Jezebel’.

Every so often, it hits me again. Men really hate us, don’t they? And they hate Kamala Harris even more because she is Black and Asian and intelligent and in apposition of authority and power.

I found this article interesting because it explains the use of the term ‘Jezebel’ as coming from a biblical queen who stood her ground. The sexual connotations came later, apparently.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are really rather scared that at 78 Biden might not make to the next election which would make a black Asian woman president 🥳

DifficultBloodyWoman · 12/02/2021 01:34

I’m not eligible to vote in US elections. But Joe Biden’s age must have been something he (and voters) took into consideration with regards to his VP pick. And I think he chose well.

I may not always agree with every one of Kamala Harris’s policies but I do agree with most of them. When we disagree, I do believe she hat thought things through critically which is important but her conclusions are different to mine because of her different experiences and priorities.

I do hope that there is a President Harris in the future. And I do hope the misogynistic right wing nutters do not cause too many problems for her.

OP posts:
Highfalutinlootin · 12/02/2021 01:39

I do not agree with or support Harris (or Biden) politically, but I despise the misogynistic attacks on her as a woman. You are right that men can never miss a chance to express their hatred and disrespect for women. Why can't they ever find a way to disagree with a woman without bringing her sex and sexuality into it? Disgraceful.

WombOfOnesOwn · 12/02/2021 01:46

I'm a lifelong feminist. I'm an American.

I had always hoped that our first female president would be someone who got into politics and elevated to office through policy chops and charisma with voters. I was a little sad when it looked like HRC might be our first female president, even though I obviously supported her over Trump, because our first female Senator and first female Representative were also wives of men who held those positions first. It seemed sad to me that to break the glass ceiling for political office in the US, a woman had to marry a powerful man and come to power that way.

Which is why it made me honestly even more sad to see Kamala may be the first female president. Look, she's a fine politician, but her major elevation to prominence happened because she was the mistress of a far, far more powerful man.

We'll tell girls for years that anyone can grow up to be like Kamala, and when those girls who see her as a heroine look up the reality of her biography, they're going to find out that she's essentially become the most powerful woman ever in the United States thanks to being willing to deal with the political equivalent of the "casting couch" to get there.

This is already the message girls hear about how to get into the elites when it comes to entertainment industry jobs. It is one hell of a shame that it's now going to be what they find out they need to do to get political offices, too.

DifficultBloodyWoman · 12/02/2021 02:35

Really? Who?

I assume you don’t mean Willie Brown, who was a city mayor and state assembly member (not a national politician).

Harris has far eclipsed him.

Harris was chosen because she was a woman and black/Asian. We need to pick those who are qualified not just by the color of their skin or gender. When we had our primary to pick a president, she wasn't even close.

Perhaps but it still is how she climbed the political ladder, by being places in influential positions through that connection when she was really too young and inexperienced to have earned her way into them. And then she was chosen as Biden's VP because of her identity characteristics, she was hardly the strongest candidate or even the strongest woman candidate.

Calling someone a Jezebel is rude and rather eye-rolling, but as a woman myself, if she's meant to somehow represent how women can wield power or do well, I'd be a bit embarrassed about her as an example as too.

user1471439310 · 12/02/2021 03:11

I just googled her and she was with Brown a decade after he separated from his wife. Whether he helped her career who knows.

Defenbaker · 12/02/2021 03:23

She seems like an intelligent, decent woman who can hold her own in a world dominated by rich powerful men. She's also attractive and well groomed, and has a certain poise in the way she presents herself. I like her, and think that she and Biden compliment each other, as they bring different things to the table.

Dr Biden seems like a nice woman too, she has warmth and is clearly well educated. I wish them all the luck in the world, sorting out the mess that Trump left behind.

The Vice Presidential candidate isn't decided by who does second best in the primaries. If it were, Sanders would have been Clinton’s running mate in 2016, and Cruz would have been Trump’s. Instead it was Kaine and Pence, who weren’t even in the primaries.

Same for Romney in 2012 - Santorum was in second place, Ryan was nowhere. And in 2008 - would have been Obama/Clinton (Biden dropped out after bombing in Iowa) and McCain/Huckabee (or Romney - he was just a few tenths of a point behind), rather than Palin who was never in. The only time I can even remember the VP candidate being in second place overall in the primaries was Kerry/Edwards in 2000.

They typically pick someone who the Pres candidate thinks s/he can work with ideologically and who’s strong in the states or demographics where the candidate is weak. Biden was never going to pick Sanders, but for Sanders and Warren and Bloomberg the problem was not so much being white or male, but being perceived as too old in combo with Biden. And we don’t know how Harris would have stacked up with the electorate US-wide if she’d stayed in the primaries, but she did what Biden needed her to do - not lose him the election.

PotholeParadies · 12/02/2021 05:06

I have little idea of Kamala Harris's personal life and even less interest in researching it, but this seems like a case of women being held to different standards than men.

We know that political appointments are often about behind the scenes networking for men and the old boys' club, but we ignore it. But a woman has a public relationship, and she gets accused of using sex to get jobs.

Many of the recent presidents aren't that inspiring to a young American boy, surely?

Trump - presidency the culmination of a career founded on his father's wealth.

George W. Bush - son of a previous president, brother of a state governor.

I'll give you Obama though, who I think got there on talent alone?

MoleSmokes · 12/02/2021 07:15

Potholeparadise - "I'll give you Obama though, who I think got there on talent alone?"

Bankrolled from the very start of his political career by the Pritzker family, hence the interest in mandating "single-sex bathrooms". Biden has benefited from backing by the same family, hence one day one of his Presidency the Executive Order that threatens the rights and protection of girls and women across the USA.

Just search for "Obama Pritzker" - you don't need to add "donor", it's all there.

Some examples:

Extracts

Penny Pritzker

Cousin to Jennifer Pritzker, Penny Pritzker served on President Obama’s Council for Jobs and Competitiveness and Economic Recovery Advisory Board. She was national co-chair of Obama for America 2012 and national finance chair of Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign. To say she was influential in getting president Obama elected would be an understatement.

As Obama’s secretary of commerce, Penny Pritzker helped create the National Institute for Innovation in Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals (NIIMBL), by facilitating an award of $70 million from the U.S. Department of Commerce, the first funding of its kind. Obama made transgenderism a pet issue of his administration, holding a meeting at the White House (the first ever) for transgenderism.

The administration quietly applied the power of the executive branch to make it easier for transgender people to alter their passports, get cross-sex treatment at Veteran’s Administration facilities, and access public school restrooms and sports programs based on gender identity. These are just a few of the transgender-specific policy shifts of Obama’s presidency.

Soros and Gill are two other major transgender movement funders who generated millions of dollars to get Obama elected, and Stryker was one of the top five contributors to Obama’s campaign. Under Obama and President George W. Bush, the federal government also funded the Tides Foundation $82.7 million, which in turn donated $47.2 million to LGBTQ issues over the last two decades.

Penny has funded the Harvard School of Public Health and, with her husband through their mutual foundation, The Pritzker Traubert Family Foundation, are funding early childhood initiatives as well as providing scholarships to Harvard University medical students. The Boston Children’s Hospital Gender Management Services wing physicians are all affiliated with Harvard Medical School. Penny Pritzker also sat on the board at Harvard, where student life offices teach students, many of whom go on to lead U.S. institutions, that “there are more than two sexes.”

J.B. Pritzker

Penny Pritzker’s brother, J.B. Pritzker, is an American venture capitalist, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and business owner. He is co-founder of the Pritzker Group, a private investment firm that invests in digital technology and medical companies, including Clinical Innovations, which has a global presence. Clinical Innovations is one of the largest medical device companies and in 2017 acquired Brenner Medical, another significant medical group offering innovative products in the fields of obstetrics and gynecology.

J.B. provided seed funding for Matter, a startup incubator for medical technology based in Chicago. He also sits on the board of directors at his alma mater, Duke University, where they are making advances in cryopreserving women’s ovaries.

J.B. is running for governor of Illinois in 2018 and put $25 million into an Obama administration public-private initiative totaling $1 billion for early childhood education. J.B. and his wife, M.K. Pritzker, donated $100 million to Northwestern University School of Law, partly for scholarships and partly for the school’s “social justice” and childhood law work.

We have to look at why this is framed as a civil rights issue when the main issues seem to be capital and social engineering. There doesn’t seem to be a sphere of influence that is untouched by Pritzker money, from early childhood education and universities to law, medical institutions, the LGBT lobby and organizations, politics, and the military. If they were the only ones funding the institutionalization of transgender ideology they would still be fantastically influential, but they are joined by other exceedingly wealthy, influential white men, who also have ties to the pharmaceutical and medical industries.

In 2008, Pritzker, who had been a friend of Barack Obama since the mid-1990s, became one of the Obama presidential campaign’s leading money bundlers, personally raising more than $200,000 for the senator’s White House bid. Pritzker also served as the Obama campaign’s national finance chair, a role in which she use her professional credentials and personal connections to persuade a host of wealthy bankers, business leaders, and political bundlers that the former radical community organizer was worthy of their support. All told, Pritzker oversaw the raising of more than $745 million for Obama’s campaign, plus another $53 million for the president’s 2009 inauguration. According to The New York Times: “Without Penny Pritzker, it is unlikely that Barack Obama ever would have been elected to the United States Senate or the presidency…. For most of 2007, Obama trailed Hillary Rodham Clinton in polls, and yet his candidacy survived in large part because of the money collected by Pritzker and her team.”[2]

"Obama Did It For the Money"

The love fest between Barack Obama and his top fundraiser Penny Pritzker that has led to her being nominated as Commerce secretary would not be so unseemly if they both just confessed that they did it for the money. Her money, not his, financed his rise to the White House from less promising days back in Chicago.

“Without Penny Pritzker, it is unlikely that Barack Obama ever would have been elected to the United States Senate or the presidency,” according to a gushing New York Times report last year that read like the soaring jacket copy of a steamy romance novel. “When she first backed him during his 2004 Senate run, she was No. 152 on the Forbes list of the wealthiest Americans. He was a long-shot candidate who needed her support and imprimatur. Mr. Obama and Ms. Pritzker grew close, sometimes spending weekends with their families at her summer home.”

But don’t sell the lady short; she wasn’t swept along on some kind of celebrity joyride. Pritzker, the billionaire heir to part of the Hyatt Hotels fortune, has long been first off an avaricious capitalist, and if she backed Obama, it wasn’t for his looks. Never one to rest on the laurels of her immense inherited wealth, Pritzker has always wanted more. That’s what drove her to run Superior Bank into the subprime housing swamp that drowned the institution’s homeowners and depositors alike before she emerged richer than before.

"Corporate Complicity With the Gender Identity Industry is Not “Wokeness”

Consider what happened to North Carolina, ground zero for the transgender bathroom bills, in 2016 – a battle they ultimately and recently lost. North Carolina battled to hold onto their sex segregated facilities which prohibited men from violating women’s (51% of the population) safe spaces, where they are physically vulnerable. Obama threatened North Carolina schools with the withdrawal of federal aid if they opted out of single sex toilets. Big Tech companies, along with other corporations signed an amicus brief against them and big investors also threatened the state with withdrawal of trillions of dollars in business.

"Do Parents Stand a Chance Against the Trans Lobby? Part II"

Illinois is pushing an aggressive sex-education program that includes teaching “gender identity mythology” to kindergarteners. Governor of Illinois, JB Pritzker, instrumental in these changes in his state, is a member of the billionaire Pritzker family, whose cousin, Jennifer Pritzker identifies as ”transgender.” Together, along with the rest of their family, they are pushing “transgender” mythology through our institutions. In 2014, JB donated $25 million to Obama’s early childhood development initiatives, after JB’s sister, Penny got Obama elected and during the same year The Advocate was touting Obama as the most Trans-friendly president ever.

Also present at Obama’s early childhood initiatives summit, to make financial commitments, were Warren and Susan Buffet whose son Peter runs Novo Foundation to which the Buffets have committed billions of dollars. Novo in partnership with Arcus Foundation, the largest “LGBT” NGO in America, which is having enormous global impact pushing “transgender” mythology, donated $20 million dollars for “transgender” causes in 2015. More recently, JB Pritzker announced his anti-bullying task force in Illinois in 2019, specifically for students identifying as “transgender” and has signed into law, Bill 246, which will ensure the inclusion of the contributions of “LGBTQ” people in the history curriculum taught in Illinois public schools. Illinois is the fifth state to enact such legislation, after California in 2011 and New Jersey, Colorado, and Oregon in 2019. The bill states that all students in Illinois will be learning about “LGBTQ” personalities in history. Obviously, there are plenty of people with historical accomplishments that are same sex attracted but singling out their sexuality seems to be of sudden great importance. Also, considering “Queer” in its modern (or Post Modern) form is a relatively new concept as it relates to gender dysphoria, and transgenderism has only recently evolved aside pharmacological and technical abilities to manifest changes in people’s secondary sex characteristics, it’s going to be a tough road finding transgender and queer people in history, unless they invent them. Oh wait! That’s already being done.

Kamala Harris is being called Jezebel
McEwan · 12/02/2021 08:10

If you delve into American conservative websites, Kamala Harris gets called much worse names that I won’t repeat

McEwan · 12/02/2021 08:19

According to Wikipedia

“In 1994, Speaker of the California Assembly Willie Brown, who was then dating Harris, appointed her to the state Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board and later to the California Medical Assistance Commission. Harris took a six-month leave of absence in 1994 from her duties, then afterward resumed as prosecutor during the years she sat on the boards. Harris's connection to Brown was noted in media reportage as part of a pattern of Californian political leaders appointing "friends and loyal political soldiers" to lucrative positions on the commissions. Harris has defended her work.”

Even if she did get these positions based on her relationship with Willie Brown, the steps to VP, via stints as San Francisco DA and Senator for California, show her hard work, ambition and talent. The Willie Brown argument feels like an unfair smear.

Bit of a misleading headline there, when the first name on the list is a woman.

It was an extract, from the middle of the article. It is included as it relates to the rich, white sibling of Penny Pritzker, highlighting the tentacle-like reach of the whole family, influencing politics and the reach of transgender ideology in the USA and well beyond.

murbblurb · 12/02/2021 14:10

Trump screwed around during and between marriages. What does that make him, then?

This is purely because Harris is female, and probably because she is black. Her husband is Jewish, they will probably get to that given time.

kyliebees · 12/02/2021 15:50

Its so nice to see people giving Harris a chance. Like some people agree with everything she says but there's no denying; she's intelligent, capable, poised and genuinely cares.

Its sad that she gets so much hate just for being a woman in power. That's the world we live in. But us ladies are making it a little bit better every day!

DandyMandy · 12/02/2021 16:10

Kamala has also been slammed for doing her job. Imagine that! Being slammed for making sure criminals go to prison. Men don't get any crap when they do the same. I really like her. I don't agree with her when it comes to the trans mob, but she seems like an interesting, intelligent person. Her personal life is irrelevant.

deydododatdodontdeydo · 12/02/2021 18:57

She also gets a lot of praise. Everything I've seen about her has been almost universal praise because of her sex and race, and pretty much nothing else.
fwiw I think she seems very good.

WombOfOnesOwn: … our first female Senator and first female Representative were also wives of men who held those positions first. It seemed sad to me that to break the glass ceiling for political office in the US, a woman had to marry a powerful man and come to power that way.

No. Jeanette Rankin was the first woman Representative, the first woman in the US Congress AND the first woman democratically elected to any national legislative body worldwide (two years before Constance Markiewicz in the UK). Rankin was elected to the House of Representatives for Montana in 1916. And we KNOW she didn’t come to power through marriage to a powerful man because she never married - and in fact was never linked to any partner male or female (much as her biographers tried - there was quite a spat over whether or not she was a lesbian).

She built her reputation, support, and political skills and contacts campaigning successfully for women’s suffrage at the state level in Washington and later in her native Montana. She did that work as a volunteer. As field secretary for the National American Woman Suffrage Association, she organised and lobbied in North Dakota, South Dakota, Missouri, Nebraska, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Tennessee, Alabama, and Florida.

As a Representative, she was instrumental in passing the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution (1920) which secured the vote for women US-wide. She also lobbied successfully for healthcare improvements for low income mothers and babies, for limits to child labour and for a shorter working day. She introduced a motion in 1916 for Congress to recognise the independence of Ireland.

She served two terms in the HoR and later led a national electoral reform campaign in the early ‘70s to abolish the Electoral College and elect the President by popular vote and to introduce proportional representation for Congressional seats. She was an outspoken antiwar activist all her life.

And, incidentally or not - before she became a suffragist, before she had an eye on a political career, she worked as a social worker in Missoula Montana and was one of the very earliest campaigners for separate, sex-specific prison facilities for women.

I’m not prepared to let Jeanette Rankin be erased or misrepresented based on misinformation. Nor Kamala Harris either.
