If you can get past the misuse of the word gender this is a quote included in a statement from the Women's Budget Group on the Women and Equalities Select Committee report Coronavirus and the gendered economic impact

See wbg.org.uk/media/womens-budget-group-response-to-the-women-and-equalities-select-committee-report-coronavirus-and-the-gendered-economic-impact/

Do Ministers not get briefings?

Do Ministers not get an induction into the basic concepts of the post they have taken up?

Perhaps every Minister could have a mumsnetter sitting by their side briefing them.

I despair if this is the level on understanding of the purpose of their role.

It's been in the news that a government group has said the assistance has mainly helped men and failed to take women into account.

Plus ca change.

That's partly why I posted this. Even if as a Minister you dont have time to read anything surely your assistants / researchers would point out that this has become an issue.

Women's Budget group has done amazing work on this AND (which is first) mnay national newspapers have reported their findings.

Ditto a report from Fawcett.

This is the Minister for Equalities? Shouldn't you be asking all Departments to do an Equality Audit.

It is so depressing.

Both the media and the politicians just make everything now nothing more than empty posturing.
