more surveys with multiple identity options...

Aah, it's that time of the year again when social science students send out their surveys. Just had one asking me if I identify as male, female, NB, prefer not to say or Other.

Luckily, 'Other' had an option to express my gender identity, with apparently no upper word limit. That's kind of handy, because while my sex remains unchanged throughout the week, how I feel I am definitely alters. Sometimes I wish I could be a man, sometimes I feel like a man. Other times I feel I'm doing the donkey-work, thus, I am a donkey. I also homeschool and cook, so that may mean I appear to identify as woman, yet, I don't know, because my lack of makeup and my jeans and shirt kind of express more masculinity..although I do wear earrings in both ears. So, those days I guess I'm a bit non-binary..although, not completely. So, it was nice that for once there was enough space to truly detail my day by day identification-status. :))

I thought this crap would change now that the government rowed back on self-identies and the census is going to split the question. But no.

I wish it was just social science students asking these questions. I have a GP patient survey here from Ipsos Mori with the same ridiculous question.

WTF?!! How on earth can that get past a GP?!

Ooh, maybe it's The Good Doctor who has made ever so clear what he thinks of women? Hopefully there aren't more? Ipsos Mori I guess I can see how it has been captured, but GP? What sort of useful data can it provide if they can't distinguish between markers used in medicine? Unless it's about trans patients!

I work in research and the front end if our HR system has just been updated with those exact questions. I was going to write in the other box something like: I am a non believer. I fo not believe in gender ideology. This questions conflates sex and gender therefore I am excluded from bring able to answer it.
Open to suggestions or improvements!

I took part in a Yodel survey the other day. It had handy pictures and words!
