Gender doublethink

There's this little logic hop that happens in genderist arguments. You define something one way, look at some data or make an argument, then change your definition and pretend the same conclusion applies.

Classical example is women (biological) need separate sports categories due to different physiology. Change definition of women to gender identity and descriptor of women to "afab". Conclusion no longer holds - it's now "afab" people who need separate sports categories in their terminology, but genderists conveniently don't notice that.

Use a wide definition of health conditions mainly diagnosed at puberty and casting no shadow of doubt on a person's sex, and declare 2% of the population "are intersex". Change definition and say intersex means babies for whom their sex is ambiguous at birth - boom, 2% of babies have an ambiguous sex at birth. Allsorts told my child that in a school assembly recently Shock

Refuse to record sex, record self-ID gender instead - no reason to segregate prisons by sex, look, sexual offences by women are on the rise.

You can't even tell if trans women are in your changing rooms, they pass so well. So you mustn't query any obviously male person as you can't know how they identify.

Changing rooms all have enclosed cubicles so you're being bigoted not to want penises in the communal women only showers.

Any more?

My apologies, I've just re-read the moderation post and see the term ‘trans-IDed males’ is requested not to be used, mods please delete my message, I will rephrase here:
Male people lose on average 1% bone density over 10 years from oestrogen therapy, so the impact on health is a GC dogwhistle.
Also, male people on oestrogen therapy have no physical advantage over women in sports, so sex-segregation is a GC dogwhistle.

TW: "I am not like this man" = a human right
W: "I am not like this man"= a hate crime

Barracker · 09/02/2021 22:55

-Gender identity matters! Inclusivity matters!

--OK, here is a sport for people with your sexed body and genetics AND it is inclusive of all 'gender identities', just as you wanted.

  • F*CK no. I want in with that SEX there. Also, make sure you say you've excluded me from the original category I'm actually eligible for, and then keep excluding the rest of my sex from my new category so they can't join me here.

Oh, I am finding this thread very interesting! I don’t have any to add but some excellent points here to counter the statements sometimes thrown at us.

ChakaDakotaRegina · 09/02/2021 23:03

Some males are not safe in the male toilets, dorms, and showers.

Some females are encouraged to use the male toilets, dorms, and showers.

YouJustDoYou · 09/02/2021 23:04

As a woman, I am,literally and legally, not allowed my own opinion.

Therefore I must stay silent in what my true thoughts about people not born women but call themselves women are.i don't want to lose my job, after all. Or for my husband to lose his for my thoughts.

If I dare say anything against the current woke-think, I will risk not only losing my.job, and my husband lose his job, but having these frightening activists threaten to kill me, rape me, destroy my family, and destroy my life.

Therefore, my official line is "transwomen are women. Transwomen are whatever they believe themselves to be. I am wrong for thinking xx is xx. I, as a sexual assault survivor, do not take any priority and must accept that transwomen come first. I am fully supportive of shoving myself and my own feelings of safety aside as long as transwomen feel safe and happy. I accept that my own feelings are bigoted, unimportant, have no meaning, and are worthless.

Because that is what legally I am being told.

"Sex is a spectrum but gender is fixed."/"Gender is not fixed because "non-binary people are valid"".

Late transitioning male "has always been a woman" despite going through male puberty and using penis and testicles to father children./GNC child must be put on blockers to prevent them going through puberty.

Heidi1982 · 09/02/2021 23:06

"Non-binary" women have their breasts cut off./"Non-binary" men put on a dress.

KittyValentine · 09/02/2021 23:10

Disagreeing with a TRA is literal violence but death threats, kerb-stomping, suck-my-dick, choke-on-my-dick, die in a grease fire is perfectly acceptable and justified.

ChakaDakotaRegina · 09/02/2021 23:11

T: allowed in any sex specific space, group, sport, shortlist, word etc that makes them feel safe and accepted and validated.

W: not allowed to chose the sex of the medical practitioner that intimately touches you, in case it hurts their feelings.

Heidi1982 · 09/02/2021 23:11

Actually I think the biggest peice of double think is "trans women are women". It is only by maintaining that line that there can be any supposed justification for men in women's spaces or for the distortions of language we are subjected to.

But if they are women what are they transing from? Were they always women, in which case why transition? And the old favourite question that mysteriously never gets answered: what makes them a woman other than the performance of sex stereotypes?

YouJustDoYou · 09/02/2021 23:16

Well, of course- you're bigoted if you don't agree with them! Obviously. How dare you calmly.accept death threats and die bitch suck on my fem cock or the popular lovely you fucking cunt choke on my fem sperm.

Nellodee · 09/02/2021 23:22

Non-binary. There exist two genders, and then people like me. But there is still a binary for me to exist outside, even though my existence means there are at least three types of gender.

I don’t know whether to post Grin or 🤮.

This thread is perfect.

LurkyMcLurkLurk · 10/02/2021 00:06

Using gendered words like women, girls or mothers to discuss issues relating to female biology is reductive and insulting.
Much better to use terms like cervix havers, or vagina owners or birthing people.

ChakaDakotaRegina · 10/02/2021 00:25

@PermanentTemporary

1. Gender is always unknowable by others.
  1. If you misgender someone else, it is always your fault and they are due an apology from you.
  2. Any combination of pronouns such as she/they is legitimate whether they form any kind of coherent whole or not.
  3. Any error in pronoun use is always your fault and they are due an apology from you.
  4. It is not yet decided whether a person's language disability/inability to use pronouns trumps gender creativity in the stakes of who is most marginalised. But it's probably your fault.
This Star

Also:

You should never assume someone’s gender. Looks don’t matter. Genitals don’t matter. It’s feelings that are important.

How are you going to know someone is trans? Genital inspections? You won’t be able to tell

CharlieParley · 10/02/2021 00:40

Stop saying that we make you feel unsafe if we're in your spaces. You can't even tell. Lots of us have been using your spaces for centuries and you never noticed. Because we all pass.

We are women because we say we are. We don't need to change anything about ourselves. Masculinity is valid. Talking about passing is gatekeeping. Gatekeeping is bigotry.

(Usually in the same conversation.)

Very interesting thread this btw. Thanks for posting, thirdfiddle.

“Puberty blockers give kids time to think and be sure it’s the right choice for them.”

“The fact that they all go onto cross sex hormones proves they didn’t need time to think and they were always the right ones to get puberty blockers.”

“Trans is not an illness of any sort.”

“Trans healthcare is not meeting the needs of this non-illness.”

yourhairiswinterfire · 10/02/2021 00:50

The reason large numbers of children in the UK are now identifying as transgender is because society is so lovely and accepting these days, so it's safer for them to come out. At the same time, the UK is supposedly one of the most transphobic places in the world, and very dangerous to live here if you're a trans person.

No predator will take advantage of the current situation and go through the hassle of identifying as a woman to gain access to vulnerable females. < male who identifies as a woman commits a predatory crime > "They're not really trans".🤦‍♀️

Graphic death threats to women, etc= stop taking everything so seriously, it's not real life, get over it. An I❤JKR sticker or the dictionary definition of the word woman= actual violence that makes grown ups fear for their safety.

"Stop reducing trans people to our body parts". But also, women should rename yourselves vagina owners, cervix-havers and menstruators for the benefit of trans men.

Vagina owners, cervix-havers and menstruators is kind and inclusive language. Penis-havers, ejaculators and prostrate owners is reducing transwomen to their genitals, it's transphobic and degrading.

Also, we apparently can't even tell who is a transwoman, but transwomen are attacked because they're transwomen Confused

NotBadConsidering · 10/02/2021 01:09

Another few after the Tavistock published their study:

Our study shows there is no improvement in children’s psychological functioning from puberty blockers but we still argued in court for us to be allowed to continue to administer puberty blockers and continue to do so in order to help their psychological functioning.

NotBadConsidering · 10/02/2021 01:10

“Puberty confers no advantage for sport.”

“If we block puberty then those children won’t have any sporting advantage when they’re adults.”

PotholeParadies · 10/02/2021 01:25

You must be scrupulously careful with pronouns and sexed-language on twitter, otherwise you may make someone on the other side of the planet feel unsafe.

Who cares if someone in RL makes you feel unsafe in a communal changing room or women's domestic violence refuge? Bigot.
