If you put this in a film script about some Orwellian future you would go that's a bit far fetched.

But this is today's reality!

The bookshop itself is doomed big it carries on like this. Very foolish of them when it’s easy to buy books online.

I wonder if Alison Evans was asked to insist on that by Juno? In which case she's been royally played. Both Alison and Readings books would not have realised quite how many people are gender critical outside of their little inner Melbourne bubble. Though they may have got the message by now. And to think that Mark Rubbo apologised for his apology in the Times. Ouch. Perhaps they'll think a bit harder next time before blacklisting a writer for having a differing opinion.

I'm assuming that the Alison Evans and the staff who insisted on Julie Bindel being effectively blacklisted (with all of the financial and professional damage that goes along with that) will now quit their jobs at the bookshop/not appear there or have their books stocked there in protest at this retraction.

They clearly feel strongly enough about this issue to tear down a writer. I hope they are prepared to stand by their principles now.

The apology for the apology is very Python-esque. 😄
