List of alternatives to R4s Woman's Hour

I'll start with IT Women's Hour (IT is Irish Times) podcast. I haven't listened to it long term, like I did with Woman's Hour, but the episodes I've listened to have all centred women. Which seems a good, albeit ridiculous place to have to start! No sure how it tackles men who identify as something else, but so far so good! I've attached an image to make it easy to recognise.

Any others?

I've switched from R4 to Times Radio at 10am. Love a bit of Matt Chorley.

yetmorenamechanging - I was only thinking this this morning!

I haven't watched any TV at all for over a year but have been addicted to R4 and the World Service since forever.

I am fed up to the back teeth with both now - one more congratulatory reference to "queering the whatever" and I'll be throwing my shoe at the radio!

Radio 3 has not been infected with the woke bullshit but I can live without it.

I never thought it would come to this but I want to stop paying the TV Licence because I am sick of subsidising an organisation that is non-stop propaganda.

I already pay or donate to YouTube Channels and Podcasts that I like but some good Radio stations would be very welcome.

SultanaSofa - thanks for the recommendation - I will see if I can find Times Radio and will give it a try Smile

I like Times Radio's 'stories of our times' podcasts. The majority of them are NOT coronavirus related and it is nice to know that other news exists.

Mole - you can get the Times Radio app on your phone. It is not as sophisticated as BBC sounds but does the job.

I'm even fed up of the bbc website. The times is is my default for that, too. Such a shame Sad
Still need CBeebies though so sticking with the licence fee for now

Grasses · 12/02/2021 07:25

I stopped my licence fee direct debit this week and they're weirdly aggressive about it! A couple of days later I got a long email about it and had to fill in a form which turned out to be the wrong form so I filled in a pre-form form. Now on my second "we'll get back to you in 72 hours" email.

All did was cancel the DD! It wasn't even due for a couple of weeks Confused

Posie Parker has Biological Womens Hour (it's a joke before anyone pounces) and her guests are really fascinating. It's also not an hour and not sophisticated either but given the BBC is a huge corporate machine and she is one woman working from a home studio it's not a fair comparison to start with.

I'm so sick of Emma Barnett, I knew she was bad news for Women's Hour after reading her book. I've never heard them talk about men so much since she started presenting.

FiLiA podcasts? I’ve only just found them so I can’t recommend them yet. Seem female focused so far.

beautifulmonument · 12/02/2021 08:45

The Filia podcasts are absolutely brilliant. They don't focus only on gender ideology but they are gender critical. Lots of podcasts on the sex trade and other important issues.

Posie Parker and Feminist Current podcasts also have lots of excellent guests.

Currently working my way through Actual Feminism Presents podcast. Once I subscribed to that I got loads of suggestions of others which are similar.
