Barely a week after Biden announces that transwomen will be able to serve alongside women in the military, a policy change has been announced: Women in the military can now wear make-up.

Needless to say, I’m sure these events are entirely unrelated Hmm

The locs thing is very important to a lot of black women, of course. Can't we at least celebrate that?

What is 'locs'?

I'm ex military and had to be taken to hospital along with a fellow trainee after being injured on exercise out in the woods. We were covered in mud so had to strip off in the hospital. I took off my combat jacket to reveal my sports bra and the doctors and nurses said 'oh my god it's a girl' and rushed to get screens to put round me. I had short hair then and they hadn't clocked that I was female. It was quite funny.

We were allowed to wear make up in 'barrack dress' (not combats) as long as it was discreet. Natural colours or clear nail polish was allowed, as was discreet jewellery (watch, wedding/engagement ring and small sleepers or studs). But not on exercise where anything shiny was a no-no.

Yes very pleased to see locs allowed. Assume for men as well?
