There are going to be police commissioner elections in May. Eng and Wales - I assume.
I have not paid any attention with this before, however with the politicisation of the police I think it is important to take note and be involved.
How does it work - do the candidates have manifestos/canvass/hold hustings etc?
If I can contact my candidates - what’s the best question to ask them re women’s rights/policing to protect women?
I.e (quick off the top of my head)
Do you recognise woman =
Adult human female - in law and in language?
Will you commit to uphold ALL the protected characteristics equally - and not just one. How will this manifest?
What are they going to do about escalating crime against women - e.g the appalling rates of domestic violence, murder by current/ex partners, rape etc?
The Staniland question - Do you believe that adult male sexed people have the right to undress and shower in communal changing rooms alongside teenage girls? And will you prosecute mothers who object and want the person removed from the changing room as committing a transphobic - non- hate crime?
What is your thoughts on non- hate crime crime?
Are male offenders being recorded as female offenders in your area and if so do you think think this is acceptable to the public and victims.
Etc...
So many questions...so much going wrong
