I’ve barely the energy for this today, but here’s a review of Travis Alabanza’s new play Overflow, about trans women and women’s toilets.

It’s a terribly written piece that hardly counts as legit theatre criticism (that, I’d be interested to read), but a ‘pee in peace’ rant full of all the cliches about ‘anti trans feminists’. It seems the Independent will let it’s contributors upload any old dross.

I find the choice of actor interesting. Fairly feminine looking and not a beard in sight. Was Travis casting for passing privilege and, if so, does that make Travis a bigot?

It'll be 5 stars in the Grauniad

I’d be happy to read a proper objective review of this play, but this reads like a school kid’s first trip to the theatre to see something written by their best mate - critical thinking of any kind woefully lacking. I wonder if there’s any nuance in Overflow at all or it’s just one big celebratory steamrolling over women’s rights. Perversely, I’d almost like to see it but no way I’d pay for a ticket
