As the govt seems to know and already has considerable evidence about violence to women and girls perhaps the focus should be on who is actually doing the violence , and if crimes are not recorded properly in terms of sex, then the evidence is surely not correct. This is an opportunity to press for single sex services ( women’s aid and rape crisis with separate services for trans people ) but everyone knows that it is women and girls who are most affected . Access to financial support, housing and so on crucial. Not to mention prosecuting convicting and imprisoning the men that commit the crimes.

highame · 14/01/2021 08:54

Access to financial support, this links with the post about the Labour PCC who has 'stolen' domestic violence funds for hate crime £20k.

I have never suffered from dv but I sure as hell am going to fill this in

YetAnotherSpartacus · 14/01/2021 09:16

I'm doing it now. It's not a terribly good survey. For example, one question asks whether you agree that domestic abuse is committed by both men and women. Yes, a small percentage of women are abusers, but the question should reflect this - i.e. "Men commit more DA than women" - it doesn't and so many people will agree with the question...

YetAnotherSpartacus · 14/01/2021 09:27

And here are the questions on the sex of participants.

Bump.

I also recommend people to respond.

YetAnotherSpartacus Yes - yet they don’t ask you how you ‘think’ of your ethnicity/sexual orientation. I have given my views...

Good point!

Angryresister · 14/01/2021 11:53

Are there any boxes for extra comments. Haven’t got there yet?

YetAnotherSpartacus · 14/01/2021 11:55

Yes, there are but not for every question.

Angryresister · 14/01/2021 11:58

YetAnotherSpartacus I guess we will just have to take our opportunities where we find them then.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 14/01/2021 12:11

Yes - that's what I did.

It's an odd survey in a few ways. I'll be interested to see how others find it.

Angryresister · 14/01/2021 13:22

Done. Lots of spaces for additional comments. You can apparently be male , female, non binary or other or prefer not to say. Very torn about whether to admit to being female or using the other box to record my dissatisfaction!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 14/01/2021 13:28

I asked abou tthe owmen can be violent question -

Maybe stop asking if we believe that both men and women commit violent crime. We know that some women do but that over 90% of all violent crime is committed by males. What do you want from that quesion? A headline that denounces women as being violent?

And the "Which of the following describes how you think of yourself?"
got his as a repsonse Best describes? Stop! This is an example of the things I have been trying to explain. Sex is not Gender

Garrgh! No Back button for that last bit!!!!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 14/01/2021 13:30

I had a back button (?).

CuriousaboutSamphire · 14/01/2021 13:46

Yes, but the very last page was something else I wanted to comment on... but I went on, to see if there was another Any Comments section about it and found it was the "Information page" and I was out.

It said Next not End, so I didn't expect it!

UppityPuppity · 14/01/2021 13:56

The last box you can put comments in - is in the page before it asks for how you ‘think’ of your sex.

You can return back to it and it saves what you have inputted until the last page. If tang makes sense?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 14/01/2021 14:06

I know, I filled out all of the additional boxes I found. Didn't waste a single one of them, honest Smile But was out before I could comment on the last page/question...

Spongebobsquarefringe · 14/01/2021 14:17

I am a survivor and have filled this in. Was treated like a suspect in the police station. Never been so mortified in my life, was made give my statement in the front office by a PC. I have never been treated with less dignity by a professional than I was that day

CuriousaboutSamphire · 14/01/2021 14:36

The only reason I was believed was because another man witnessed the last minute or so, when I was punched and thrown in front of his car!

Policeman actually askd me if he was my boyfriend and what I had done to annoy him!

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 14/01/2021 15:27

I'm hoping there's a chance to mention the need to educate people brought up in a world where violent, misogynistic pornography is so widespread it's practically inescapable.

Education for women too, as so many young women now accept that aggressive sex, anal penetration etc are normal. (I'd rather get rid of the pornography male-supremacist propaganda but there's no way I know of doing that.)

CuriousaboutSamphire · 14/01/2021 15:36

I used one of the free text "what do you think" boxes for that. The word allowance is good....

highame · 14/01/2021 17:10

Thanks for the heads up, it made me more aware and I managed to get in all of my points

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 14/01/2021 21:03

Thanks, Samphire.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 27/01/2021 16:34

I've just completed the survey, but found no way of recording my responses to keep. Has anyone else managed to do this?

PrawnofthePatriarchy · 27/01/2021 17:56

I've completed it. Took longer than 15 minutes but that's because I took full advantage of the boxes you could fill in.
