Life as an "Untouchable" in India

In general, violence against women in India is at pretty horrific levels as females are never valued and respected in the way that males are.

The caste system permeates the fabric of Indian society, and for women who are part of the 'untouchables' this extra layer of dehumanisation results in brutal rapes and murders by upper caste men who see these women's bodies as something to be used and abused with impunity.

Utterly depressing documentary. So much ignorance, prejudice and hatred. I don't know how long it will take to extinguish the sheer evil that is the caste system from Indian culture. Sad

I'm afraid I can't bear to watch this.

I have a friend who works with a charity there and it's unfathomable how any person could treat other human beings in this way. That it's such a normal and accepted part of a culture is terrifying.
