They have re confirmed they are single sexed but it's pretty awful rubbish bring spouted.on the post. I'm sure they could use some love.

Done

There is a lot of flak being given to the baths. It is quite off putting that women are happy to give other's rights away. I did not think that there would be so many transwomen using those particular baths at Coogee, .... but there you go.....

Winesalot · 11/01/2021 11:20

In fact, reading the comments, it highlights how little those stating (shouting in some cases) the mantra and contacting the council have not even thought about the needs of those who cannot use the pools with males using them. It is full of people declaring they are fighting against 'white feminism'.

When others point out how this blocks women who are certain religions that may not be predominately 'white' the posters are uncaring and unempathetic. It is all about the malez.... Oh dear....

MichelleofzeResistance · 11/01/2021 11:23

Ugh huge amounts of TWAW, and no female people should have the right to any place where male people can't be.

ToastieSnowy · 11/01/2021 11:32

Wow there’s some hate on that Facebook page all in the name of being “inclusive”. Amused by one TRA trying to dox and the person they copied in telling them to sod off (paraphrasing).

BlackWaveComing · 11/01/2021 12:02

Women selling out other women with their luxury beliefs.

I've swum there. It feels incredibly safe. It's so unusual to have a place like that, free from the adult male gaze.

But some just have to shill for men and destroy it.

mindtheclegs · 11/01/2021 12:58

Shocking.

I wonder what the difference is between Australia and the UK as I've not seen those sorts of discussions being so one-sided over here for a while unless at a Labour Party conference.
Institutional capture for sure but I'd have thought that a no-nonsense down-to-earth approach to things like this would prevail (discounting woke-bro Melbourne).

Collidascope · 11/01/2021 14:36

Euch, lots of "How are you going to police it? With genital inspections??"
Yes. Because genital inspections are the only possible way of telling whether someone is male or female. There are no other differences whatsoever, which makes it really odd that transphobia and sexism still exist, given most of us don't go round displaying our genitals in polite society.

"Y'all" is great. Instantly signals that I don't have to give a crap about what the person using it is saying.

GivesNoFox · 11/01/2021 15:48

What was the reason for them confirming their single sex status? I ask because I wonder if these TRA's actually cared about the baths to begin with or if they just came across it as another easy target to spit their venom at.

Soubriquet · 11/01/2021 15:56

It’s so depressing seeing how many women are screaming “TWAW”

Way to through us all under the bus. Yet if it was men’s only swimming, I bet this wouldn’t happen

MichelleofzeResistance · 11/01/2021 15:57

Euch, lots of "How are you going to police it? With genital inspections??

I always find it so transphobic to imply like this that TW and NB males would refuse to follow the rules of any place or to respect women's single sex spaces, and it would be necessary to police them. Awful generalisation, how is it acceptable to say this?

SnuggyBuggy · 11/01/2021 16:50

If people want to use a diverse and inclusive swimming pool can't they just go to a mixed sex one or don't they exist anymore?

Oh if course its all about validation.

Winesalot · 11/01/2021 17:00

There are some stunning mixed sex ocean baths around that area. It is NOT due to not have open access baths to use.

DrJump · 11/01/2021 21:54

Ive got to the point where i just want to scream traitor! Im so tired of women letting other women down and ignoring the actual issues.

Theres quite a few oh but boys can go how is that OK. Which I assume means they don’t have kids and understand why a mum might need to take her kids with her for a swim.

ChakaDakotaRegina · 11/01/2021 23:55

For fucks sake, there are two mixed sex outdoor swimming pools ON THAT BEACH. If you look at a map, one is 300 yards away.

SkeeterP · 12/01/2021 07:09

FFS. The FB page has gone now but there is a very one-sided story in the Australian press:

amp.news.com.au/national/nsw-act/mcivers-ladies-baths-sydney-pool-slammed-over-rule-for-transgender-women/news-story/28a508e8e7efc12dd289177fce88b573

Australia looks like it’s completely lost the plot. Even the comments are Confused

SkeeterP · 12/01/2021 07:19

Lots of men posting on that news article its ‘sexist’ to have women only spaces Hmm ... oh Australia ...

Winesalot · 12/01/2021 07:56

The comments saying there shouldn’t be ‘gendered’ anything are bizarre. There are female only gyms all over Australia for instance.

ChocolateCrackles · 12/01/2021 07:57

I notice their Facebook page has been taken down completely since this morning. Absolute madness. I hope they are able to hold true to their values, no doubt they will be harassed to all buggary now.

AnyOldPrion · 12/01/2021 08:12

“Historically, our pool was one of very few places where women were allowed to swim,” it reads. “Protecting this special place for women has been the work of many generations of women. Today it provides a safe place for women of many ages, religions, and backgrounds.”

This is what women are so quick to forget when they throw away our rights. Women’s rights are very recently granted and my understanding is that Australia is still deeply misogynistic on many levels. There seem to be some better comments appearing now, but the women stamping their feet at the moderate stance the pool has taken (post-op only) are depressing.

SameO1d · 12/01/2021 08:14

Some of the people giving TWAW comments were asked about why the rights and access of TW are more important than those of religious women (Muslim, Jewish) and those females who cannot feel/be safe in the presence of males. Apparently, TW, (pre-op, post-op, or not contemplating surgery) are women, so the viewpoint that some women cannot access the space if TW are there is just false and invalid.

Apparently I am invalid - despite being a natal, XX, biological female.

”Some of the people giving TWAW comments were asked about why the rights and access of TW are more important than those of religious women (Muslim, Jewish) and those females who cannot feel/be safe in the presence of males.”

Misogynistic, Islamophobic Anti-Semites.

Winesalot · 12/01/2021 08:39

I see people say Australia is more misogynistic than the UK, yet having lived there most of my life, I don’t see it any better or any worse than the UK.

Although. I agree that At the moment the prioritizing of trans rights is an issue.

DifficultBloodyWoman · 12/01/2021 08:46

I’ve lived in both places and I would say Australia is more misogynistic than the UK. But perhaps I have been in different social groups in each country?

The Trans thing has really been embraced in Australia to a shocking extent. Massive capture!w

Winesalot · 12/01/2021 09:04

But perhaps I have been in different social groups in each country?

Perhaps. It is certainly still as prevalent here in the UK amongst my social group as it was in Australia.

But I also have felt less sure about my employment rights in UK and ended up sacked while pregnant in a sneaky way that I was told would be long and expensive to contest. I studied Industrial relations in uni and worked with a union in Australia and am shocked at some of the things I have seen in the UK vs Australia regarding treatment of women in the workplace.
