I'm very pleased to read this, thanks for sharing

StillWeRise · 10/01/2021 18:12

brilliant news
I have heard harrowing accounts of this, sometimes in a sexual context. Would be great if the promotion of strangulation in porn was banned somehow...

MoltenLasagne · 10/01/2021 18:17

Great news, I hope this prompts the police and CPS to take it more seriously.

SpudsandGravy · 10/01/2021 18:18

Very good news. Let's hope the police and CPS actually use it. Thanks for sharing!

PrawnofthePatriarchy · 10/01/2021 18:20

CousinKrispy · 10/01/2021 18:33

That's great news!

CaraDuneRedux · 10/01/2021 18:37

Well done all the women who have campaigned so tirelessly on this one.

persistentwoman · 10/01/2021 18:50

Great news. As well as providing protection for women, hopefully this will aid parents challenging all the creepy adults / adult groups selling sex ed resources and training to schools that celebrates porn to children.

MichelleofzeResistance · 10/01/2021 18:54

Great to hear! Particularly the comment about ending the excusing and normalisation of this. Full of admiration for the women who have fought for and achieved this. Flowers

Excellent news and this is still open for submission

Fantastic news! I cared for two women/girls in one day recently who had been strangled as part of sexual assault

So this happened to me in 2019
He is due in court in sept 2021

Can the new rules apply to him?
Or is it only if this is committed after jan 2021??

Excellent work Centre for Women’s Justice! Very impressive and recently-founded charity. If you’re on a social media break, you can keep up with their work via their email list.

Fantastic!

@dublingirl66 I'm so sorry. I hope you have good support and are doing well.

@verawangalang I hope those girls are ok. Can I ask what you mean by care for? Broadly, not specifically. As a medical professional, therapist, etc.? Just curious and you can absolutely not answer if you don't want to.

MaudTheInvincible · 10/01/2021 21:46

Really pleased to see this. Thanks for sharing

Duffmcstockings · 10/01/2021 23:36

I came to find a thread about this. A step in the right direction. Bonkers that it had to be spelt out.

Duffmcstockings · 10/01/2021 23:38

I can't even talk about this with my 18 year old daughter. Some women like it mummy' Hmm

Forensic Nurse Examiner so acute post sexual assault care. Off to name change now haha 😂
PearPickingPorky · 11/01/2021 07:11

What a difficult job, vera.

I assume this offence will still apply if the strangulation is part of sex? It only seems to mention it as part of domestic abuse.

MedusasBrandyButter · 11/01/2021 07:15

That is an excellent statement by CWJ. So forensic, with all the short and long-term consequences, not to mention bluntly comparing it to the torture of water-boarding. I'm sorry to say this, but I'm glad there were no feelings mentioned: just the pure instinct of terror, such as any male human could feel.

Ifonlyus · 11/01/2021 08:02

Excellent news. I am so pleased. I hope this gets some mainstream publicity
