My word!

HecatesCats · 30/12/2020 14:35

There you have it

persistentwoman · 30/12/2020 15:03

Nailed it. Of course, there won't be a message like that outside the women's toilets.

Whatwouldscullydo · 30/12/2020 15:07

Lets see how many actually use it alongside the single sex ones...

Solves all the problems.doesnt it. Covers the safety issue as no one has ti declare their gender or.pee amongst just men..

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 01/01/2021 00:12

I wonder where that was?

Recently one of each of the ladies/gents loos in the park near us were closed for some reason - so there was just one of each pair open. I refuse to use public loos unless an absolute emergency but DH was horrified when he was using the ‘gents’ and a group of women marched through, passing the urinals to go to the cubicles. I was waiting outside and saw the mass exodus of men...

ErrolTheDragon · 01/01/2021 00:25

Oh ffs. One of the main reasons for having some mixed sex loos as well as single sex is so that mums can accompany sons and dads can accompany daughters.

Whatwouldscullydo · 01/01/2021 09:24

Perhaps re naming it "family facilities " might make it sound less threatening...

No ones gonna dare use it with that sign...

Caaarrrl · 01/01/2021 09:34

I think it has been put up by someone who knows that gender neutral sounds too nice. They want people to understand what many of us on here already do: gender neutral really means mixed sex. And to understand that mixed sex toilets are not safe for children (or women). Maybe they were forced to open a mixed sex toilet and really disagree, so this is their way of making it known to customers that it's not always safe for men to be in there with children.

They are showing their true GC colours! Good on them! I always point out to anyone who mentions gender neutral toilets/changing etc that in reality it is mixed sex.

Whatwouldscullydo · 01/01/2021 09:39

I think it proves the point quite nicely.

I also think that it will prove safety is not the concern because no one will use it even though it takes away all the apparent problems of single sex loos.

WarOnWomen · 01/01/2021 09:42

Good to see that it's not described as gender neutral as many people wouldn't have a clue. My darling mum would get a shock if she went unwittingly into gc toilets and saw a man/men in there.

Unisex is better than gc but mixed sex describes it as what it is.

I think they have a fair amount of ‘family’ facilities in the US (or maybe that’s just airports!). It did stand out to me (and I assumed it was just a way to have unisex loos).

ErrolTheDragon · 01/01/2021 10:00

Family facilities are a good idea - they should have changing tables/nappy bins, large cubicles big enough for a parent to take a pram and multiple kids in, a low level sink and sometimes low loos. Loos designed for families, not pandering to adults prioritising their preferences over other people's needs.

Whatwouldscullydo · 01/01/2021 10:02

Well of course they should errol

But that means actually researching whilst facilities you are lacking and ensuring everyone is adequately provided fir

Far more effort than changing a sign on a door

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 01/01/2021 10:19

Oh yes... that’s why so many loos aren’t all ‘accessible’ but they are ‘inc-loo-sive ’ (haha just thought that up).
