Does anyone see this will turn into a balanced discussion? No breath holding going on here...

Think this, not see this. Doh.

I very much doubt it will be balanced....

More hatred towards women I suppose...how grabby we all are...

zanahoria · 28/12/2020 13:25

who knows?

open up the book and try

zanahoria · 28/12/2020 13:27

I know it is about Wizards and magic but I doubt the words have transformed in goblin-ish or something.

I think this is a repeat and I think when it was first broadcast a number of people were pleasantly surprised to find it more balanced than anticipated. But maybe I've misremembered.

nauticant · 28/12/2020 13:30

It's a repeat and was discussed at the time:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4076594-Can-I-Still-Read-Harry-Potter-BBC-R4-Thursday-12th-November-2020

The programme is nowhere near as bad as many were expecting. I ended up feeling a bit sorry for Aja Romano. But only a bit.

Shedbuilder · 28/12/2020 13:30

Just checked and it was originally broadcast in November.

nauticant · 28/12/2020 13:30

Cross-post. My recollection was the same Shedbuilder.

Shedbuilder · 28/12/2020 13:32

Thanks for finding the link to that discussion.

Always reassuring to discover I haven't imagined something!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 28/12/2020 17:49

Sorry, only just realised it is a repeat... Glad to hear it was more balanced than it might have been.

It is an interesting listen. It's always good to realise that not everyone in the BBC buys uncritically into "JKR is a bigot".

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 29/12/2020 15:35

Yes, I find it quite heartening Nauticant. Makes me feel there may be some hope in all the woke madness.
