My favourite line:

Perhaps one day Patrick Harvie — a short man for whom every horse is a high one —

Igneococcus · 20/12/2020 08:03

Is that a common saying? I have never come across it before (not a native English speaker), I do get what he means.

It's to do with the expression 'get off your high horse', ie stop talking down to people and thinking that you're morally superior to them.
334bu · 20/12/2020 08:14

Great article and comments.

Grellbunt · 20/12/2020 08:16

That is a fabulous line about the horses!

Igneococcus · 20/12/2020 08:16

Thanks Edge I understand it now. It is a good description of Harvie.

Scotland needs s much sunlight as it can get before the election, otherwise afterwards, the SNP will take a majority to mean an anti-women agenda is just fine. Kicking the GRA reforms into the long grass is an underhand tactic that doesn't usually go down well with the electorate. A reduction in support should cause a re-think

Gurufloof · 20/12/2020 09:38

Love the comments. Some really marvellous people sticking up for women.

Awning10 · 20/12/2020 09:45

Thanks for posting with share token.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 20/12/2020 09:45

Love the horse line!

EyeRollForever · 20/12/2020 09:53

As is often the case i agree to a point, but he loses me with his 'let them have their pronouns' and 'living as a woman'. The only way to live as a woman is to have a female body. Anything else is sexist bilge and it absolutely boils my piss

McDuffy · 20/12/2020 10:19

Thanks for flagging, I seldom venture over to the Scotland section!
I see Disgusted of Manchester is comparing us to KKK members Hmm quite the stretch!

334bu · 20/12/2020 10:22

Disgusted of Manchester proving the whole point of the article.

Sexnotgender · 20/12/2020 10:41

Article is mostly excellent. More sunlight!

Can you even IMAGINE an article like this 12 months ago?

SunsetBeetch · 20/12/2020 11:35

Disgusted of Manchester does a lot of good work...for.us.

OldCrone · 20/12/2020 12:31

I'm surprised at the support for the high horse line. Attacking someone over their physical attributes, over which they have no control, is a bit cheap and not clever.

I dunno - I see it more as 'short on logic'. I have no idea about his physical stature, but his critical thinking stature is definitely lacking.
Grellbunt · 20/12/2020 12:57

I think given how intimately this whole debate affects women based on their physical attributes...

highame · 21/12/2020 10:16

Disgusted of Manchester does get around. Just love the reasoning, am guessing male, but just in case he/she/them/they/it/gagonga/diddle/twiddle does have some odd thoughts

MrsRockAndRoll · 27/12/2020 06:57

Great article

Gncq · 27/12/2020 09:51

Surely it was an attack on acting morally superior all the time.

Anyway it's funny!
