schoolofsexed.org/blog-articles/2020/11/9/why-is-everyone-being-mean-to-jk-rowling?fbclid=IwAR3WdT7cXyr_sJXOsJeQ-nkfEHZyZ88RQyx1i8UhUHIn_-_oEzRMGCqbyd0#

I want to weep. This org is what was Sexplain. Widely recommended and used by pshe and rse teachers.

OP posts:

They have the bare-faced cheek to claim that their educational programme is compliant: schoolofsexed.org/programme

Beamur · 18/12/2020 23:15

I had a bit more of a look at this website. The JK Rowling article is in their blog section rather than their educational resources. So, it's an opinion piece?

TalkingtoLangClegintheDark · 19/12/2020 00:14

I couldn’t read all that drivel, but the beginning bit I did read actually made me think this will not work on the average person the way the author intended it to.

It’s so completely up its own arse that it will more likely be good recruitment material for the GC camp.

I mean...

A trans woman is someone who identifies as a woman, but who was assigned male at birth. That means that society thought they were a man because of the genitals they were born with, but they’re actually a woman. A cis woman is someone who was assigned female at birth (people looked at her genitals and were like, we reckon she’s a woman!), and she identifies as a women.

Apart from anything else, the idea that people refer to newborn babies as men and women is mind-bogglingly absurd!

And then when you get onto the “sex is a construct” bullshit, I think the majority of people who read that (who aren’t fully paid up TRAs/allies already) are just going to be going, WTF?

Having said that, yes, of course it’s deeply concerning that a piece like that could be hosted on a site that purports to provide material for PSHE. Obviously the grown ups have left the building in that particular org.

itsor · 19/12/2020 10:06

I think the best part is where the author says that they've gone into men's toilets countless times as a femme-presenting non-binary person and never had an issue at all because nobody really cares, then says a few sentences down that if trans women (who the author also claims at once point you can't tell are trans) had to use men's toilets they'd be at risk of serious danger and violence. What.

InspiralCoalescenceRingdown · 19/12/2020 10:13

What a pack of lies.

My particular favourite is trying to muddy the water over whether Caster Semenya is intersex or not - I don't think I've seen that before.

andyoldlabour · 19/12/2020 11:27

"JK Rowling contributes significantly to British public opinion, which affected the Government’s decision to roll back on their planned increase of legal rights to trans people"

Is that a libelous statement? Should any organisation which publishes lies such as the above, be allowed to influence children's education?

Clymene · 19/12/2020 11:37

I find it very disturbing that guiding is getting involved in SRE at all. I don't think that's what most parents imagine will be covered when they sign up their daughters.

Beamur · 19/12/2020 12:03

I have a DD in Guides and she loves it. I am also a Leader and our unit has agreed amongst ourselves not to deliver some of the new activities. The other Leaders don't have kids and have accepted my perspective that some of the activities (I think the ones in particular that had been partnered by others) were not acceptable to me as a parent and that probably means other parents wouldn't like them either. It's not the role of Guides to 'do' phse and not what parents expect from us. I think we should actually seek more consent from parents when deviating from the expected programme. It's sneaky to promote an ideology in such a trusted environment.
It's not mandatory for leaders to do all of the materials available, you are allowed to pick and choose.

Jux · 19/12/2020 14:58

There are so many lies in there that I stopped needing to read any more after the first couple of paras.

I really hope JKR sues them for that.

NotTerfNorCis · 19/12/2020 16:58

Troubled Blood – a book about a cis man who dresses in feminine clothing to kill cis women

The first lie.

If you're going to call yourself an educator, it's a really poor look to get your information from twitter
Passmeabottlemrjones · 19/12/2020 17:51

What a load of utter shit.

NotTerfNorCis · 19/12/2020 17:57

Another interesting link:

news.yahoo.com/amphtml/transgender-brits-struggle-against-toxic-095625451.html

Aidan Comerford is an Irish writer who has stepped up repeatedly as a public ally to trans people. Comerford tells me he’s been contacted privately by a number of former ‘gender critical’ people who describe cult-like thinking within the movement, where love-bombing and affirmation follows any public mockery of trans people—and hate-bombing awaits anyone who has second thoughts.

He says he’s lost count of the number of gender critical people he’s seen complaining of losing friendships and family relationships to their anti-trans dogma. “I very rarely come across a ‘gender critical’ person who isn't personally abusive.

nepeta · 19/12/2020 19:26

It is possible to contact that organisation linked to in this thread and to tell what is wrong with that long piece.

Drop us an email: [email protected]

The more mail they get the more they will become educated.

PotholeParadies · 19/12/2020 20:03

They're on twitter, and they're so proud of themselves that they tagged JK Rowling into the conversation.

Jux · 20/12/2020 00:00

I really really hope she lawyers up over this; it's so outrageous and blatant and ignorant.

Datun · 20/12/2020 01:40

Psychological and scientific academia has widely proved that gender, and sex, are socially constructed.

In this section I’m going to outline some of the key arguments against trans women I’ve seen recently, and then logically demonstrate why these arguments are total garbage.

Honestly, I cant even get through it. It's written by a ten year old.

Nonsensical claptrap and very likely defaming.

NiceGerbil · 20/12/2020 01:57

Using the picture of the clitoris as their main logo is outrageous.

They need to replace it with a picture of a cock. Preferably the sort that boys and men draw everywhere everywhere with some spunk coming out.

Reading that. They are all about the men. Be honest.

Using that image, given the content, is a massive piss take.

NotBadConsidering · 20/12/2020 03:32

On the plus side, someone has successfully coalesced every single bullshit illogical argument all in one place. I’ve never seen such a collection of lies all together, they’re usually sprinkled about various articles and Twitter.

So there’s that, I suppose.

TheMarzipanDildo · 20/12/2020 03:53

“This confusion is furthered by trans-exclusionary ‘feminists’ appearing on daytime television and calmly explaining their views in ways that many people think seem reasonable.”

I wonder why they seem reasonable? Hmm

Delphinium20 · 20/12/2020 04:50

"A really cool surgery"

That's how they describe irreversible surgery and life-long treatments that often render people infertile, with permanent open wounds and unable to have an orgasm.

WhereIsMyMojoGone · 20/12/2020 08:42

If you’re not sure about something, look it up and learn, but please be careful where you get your information from. Illogical and transphobic arguments can seem reasonable at first when presented calmly and emotively by a middle class white cis woman on a breakfast show. However, through their position, these cis women pose a real threat to the livelihoods and safety of trans woman – much more than any perceived threat trans women pose to them.

Only middle class white women pose threat to livelihood and safety of trans women. Presumably if I go on day time tv and say the same things as white middle class women I won't be threat since I am neither white nor middle class, because you know, BLM. Hmm

Clymene · 20/12/2020 09:35

In a way though, it is actually quite refreshing to see this nonsense all written down.

Beware of white middle class women! They are all witches.

I hope their mums have told them not to expect a Christmas present this year, ungrateful little toads

I’ve had a look but I can’t find this, any help would be appreciated, thanks

Priceless.
