Video in the link. And if I'm understanding correctly, Stonewall are going to be advising Ofcom on which groups the BBC are allowed to feature in their reports?? Hmm

John Nicholson compares the BBC asking LGBA their opinion on trans rights to asking a racist group to comment on whether black people should have equality. Allison Bailey has tweeted him. Understandably she finds the racist comparison offensive. He tries shutting her down by referring to the crowd funders that were taken down for ''hate''. No, those crowd funders were maliciously targeted by anti-women and homophobic groups/people, John.

He also says that people are making the same arguments now against trans people that they used to against gay people. I don't remember gay men ever demanding women's rights, or trying to force women and girls into situations they're uncomfortable with. I don't remember gay men being sent to women's prisons because they feel unsafe in the men's, or gay men demanding the right to cheat women out of sports medals and job positions, does anyone else?

Gay men and lesbians were persecuted because of homophobia. This pushback against the trans lobby has shit all to do with any ''phobia'', it's the unreasonable demands that will put women and children in danger, and the threatening of anyone who doesn't comply that we're against. We're against the homophobia coming from the trans lobby, particularly against lesbians, that so called LGBT champion groups turn a blind eye to.

I'm sick of these hard of thinking, overgrown children framing anyone who doesn't want to focus all their energy on trans 24/7 as 'hate groups'. Women's groups who want to focus on women only? Anti-trans hate group. Group who want to centre LGB people only? Anti-trans hate group. Rape victims wanting to chose the sex of their examiner in the aftermath? Anti-trans hate. Dismiss and smear anyone who doesn't blow smoke up their arse as a right wing hate group in an attempt to deplatform them.

Can they just have a fucking word with themselves, they're so boring and predictable.

So sorry for the rant, I'm so sick of the idiocy.

2.6 Ofcom is accountable to Parliament. The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport is the responsible Minister, except for postal services when it is the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills

So would it be appropriate to write to him especially as misogyny is being added into the twitter legislation? Ofcom should be concerned with neutrality and the rule of law, not pushing one viewpoint.

I would imagine it would be appropriate to email Oliver Dowden and Liz Truss- plus cc in Boris.

?Plus your MP?

Everyone needs to contact them.

As Passmeabottle showed up thread - it’s such a conflict of interest giving full media influence to a campaign lobby whose whole intention is to remove the rights of 51 % of the population and then calls us bigots - plus their approach to child safeguarding for children who present with gender dysphoria - It’s an outrage.

Another call for the baroness?
And there are a myriad of cases here.
Also of note for BBC that the majority of those jailed for non-payment of TV licences - which remains a criminal offence - are women

Surprise surprise, Colm of Amnesty Ireland, who believe women who defend biological sex should be disenfranchised, is all for this.

What's not acceptable is stamping all over women's rights to privacy, dignity, fairness and safety without letting us have a say in it, Colm. And no one is being 'forced to justify their existence', you massive dingbat.

I'm starting to get a bit obsessed with Select Committees. Does anyone know if transcripts are routinely produced and on what timescale? I want to complain but want to be absolutely sure what she said.
I'm also going to include this in the Hate Crimes consultation. It is totally unacceptable to accuse organisations of being Hate Groups and transphobia in this way. In fact doing so is a Hate Crime with a very specific purpose of silencing and disenfranchising someone you disagree with particularly in the case of the LBG Alliance.
I am absolutely livid, my blood pressure is through the roof!

Would LGBA be able to take action against these pricks? How does it work? Can a 'group' take action, or does it only work if a single, named individual is being targeted?

Apparently later in the session Damian Green called her out. I'll have to sit down and watch the whole session. It's pretty obvious she doesn't know what she's talking about.

Nope. And nor does Nicholson or anyone else. But they’re too lazy to think up a plausible reason for applauding the demolition of women’s rights. And they’re not going to admit it’s misogyny.
