I'll revive the thread on Thursday

OP posts:
ArabellaScott · 08/12/2020 12:28

Adding to the bingo card: 'everywhere else in the world does it so it must be okay'

CaveMum · 08/12/2020 12:29

Ah thanks nauticant, like I said I don’t actually know the process!

nauticant · 08/12/2020 12:29

Apparently NeurotrashWarrior although they created the Dutch Protocol, it was not developed to be used with Affirmation Only therapy. That was developed elsewhere and one of the reasons for the mess we're in is that some people took the Dutch Protocol and combined it with Affirmation Only.

NeurotrashWarrior · 08/12/2020 12:31

I was actually just reading that Nauticant, thank you.

Makes it even worse!

NeurotrashWarrior · 08/12/2020 12:31

Is affirmation only from the US?

nauticant · 08/12/2020 12:42

I don't know. It's been pushed heavily there but I'm not sure how it's spread. Diane Ehrensaft has been a super spreader though.

OP posts:
NeurotrashWarrior · 08/12/2020 12:52

Super spreader (if it weren't so sad :( )

OhHolyJesus · 08/12/2020 12:53

For bingo

Born in the wrong body

Played with toys for boys/girls

(Thanks for noting OP will be listed and poised to complain - after nature bang this morning they might get two in one week from me)

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 08/12/2020 13:10

anyone ever got a response from a complaint? I sent one in last year (between Christmas and new year) and apart from a ‘we are taking longer than usual to answer complaints’ I’ve heard nada.

TheGreatWave · 08/12/2020 13:33

I don't like my bingo list as it makes me sad:

Autism.
Childhood trauma.
Same sex attraction. (Though probably won't be mentioned on there)

It makes me angry that the Tavi don't have this information available.

HecatesCatsInXmasHats · 08/12/2020 13:39

I think the 'for' and 'against' set up is a pretty inevitable, but extremely flippant response to a serious legal judgement about the health of children.

Angryresister · 08/12/2020 16:28

JG said she would not be taking sides on this issue. Why not?

Angryresister · 08/12/2020 16:30

There were a couple of complaints today about the interesting interview with the founder of extinction rebellion being cut short to have a piece of fluff about men and make up. Why? At least some complaints get through though.

Yes.

Continuing in the fine tradition of these historic radio shows:

''Thalidomyde - why I still think it's worth the risk'.

''Thinspiration - are pro-ana websites really all bad?'

'Lobotomies - views from both sides'

NeurotrashWarrior · 08/12/2020 18:41

I did lol at that in a dark humour way.

HecatesCatsInXmasHats · 08/12/2020 18:41

Well observed Arabella and darkly amusing, but also bloody tragic.

NeurotrashWarrior · 08/12/2020 18:42

You know when gardeners question time flounced and there was two programmes for a while?

I propose a mn version. I'm sure Jenni would help out.,

Soontobe60 · 08/12/2020 18:55

‘Lived experience’
‘Bodily autonomy’
‘Most marginalised group’

Bingo!

NeedToKnow101 · 08/12/2020 19:13

The BBC are so fucking negligent; they pretty much pushed it on young children and families and they continue to push it even after the high court ruling. I hope they get sued.

TartrazineCustard · 08/12/2020 21:14

Is inviting genderist parents to give their view on the Bell case the BBC's new version of inviting Nigel Farage on absolutely bloody everything? Honestly, can't they try investigating facts instead of looking for false balance?

ChattyLion · 08/12/2020 21:19

I’m trying to lower my expectations in advance for this one.

ArabellaScott · 08/12/2020 21:30

Sorry for the darkness. I find the way children (and families) have been manipulated, let down and fed bad information absolutely horrific and rage-making. It's abhorrent. It's a fucking scandal. Let's hope this is the beginning of the end.

No need to apologise! It was funny, revealing and sad, but also useful. It IS that ridiculous.
ContessaDiPulpo · 08/12/2020 22:46

Arabella I think dark humour like that used to play a vital role in British politics. Politicians would do stuff, the comedians would rip it to bits that week in a sketch show, and the politicians would then quietly try to plug all the holes identified and mocked by this selective vox populi. These days the politicians are just so out there though, that the comedians have lost any power they used to have - it's almost unsatirisable. Only almost - those of us paying attention with open-mouthed horror do appreciate your turn of phrase :)

MoonPomme · 08/12/2020 23:09

I wonder if the pro mother will be the same as they dragged out on sky nees last week.
Trans boy. Very obviously autistic.
Being trans means nothing now they have transitioned they can just live a happy life.
I hope these poor kids sue the arses off everyone who's been complicit in this bad experiment.
Is it an experiment if no fucker even bothers to collect data?
Shameful.
