I was thinking about how themes of anti-capitalism and Marxist may help the liberation of women from the oppressive patriarchy, does anybody think that the book Das Kapital by Karl Marx is a good book to understand the class struggles that working-class mums face in day to day life?

heya,

I do think that it mirrors a lot of the struggles, what I also think though that living in a system of capitalism, you have to take into consideration the mental health effects of the consumerism promises of happiness has on a working class mother - whilst woman are the backbone of the working market, and are statistically well less rewarded financially - i would like to see a study on the effects of how while trying to achieve the promises of the spoils and not being able to has on a modern day working womans mental health and how this can further lead to a cycle of poverty , debt as well as poor self image and bad financil desicions.

I think that when we are looking back to marx he paints a picture for woman which is accurate in todays society however he would have had no idea of the modern day things like social media, reality tv which the lower working clases would have 24 hour accsess to as opposed to the time when it was written, when the bougosius was only glimpsed into, via maybe newspapers or books etc,

I totally belive that it highlights the struggles of the working class mum.
