There's something deeply wrong in Russian society, and violence against women is only one symptom of it, unfortunately.
I know you don't mean to downplay, but this is downplaying. Systemic violence against 50% of the population is "only one symptom" of Russian society being wrong?
I'm not having a go at you, I'm just trying to express something about how we mentally trivialise women's issues and "other" them, even when are women. Maybe violence against women and the suppression of women's rights is the reason Russia is fucked up? Maybe the use of violence to control women is at the heart and the core of every fucked up society?
