Have you ever tried to persuade someone Self ID is a bad idea?

... in writing e.g. on Facebook or via email? Did you include links or your own life experience to back up your point?

If so, please could you take 20 minutes,to copy your post, edit it a bit so it answers one of the questions in the GRA reform inquiry, then send it in before 23:58?

The whole inquiry thing seems intimidating but the Women and Equalities Committee has published some of the responses so far and do you know what? Most of them are terrible! Loads of TRAs droning on about their hurt feelz but with no evidence to back anything up.

I guarantee your last rant on self ID or trending children or trans widows or people misunderstanding the equality act will be better quality than what I just read!

You're not meant to upload anything published elsewhere but if you edit it a bit then it'll be a new thing.

Seriously, if we all submitted the stuff we write on MN and social media they'd have evidence coming out their ears!

Please consider it. You don't have to answer all the questions, just pick one that matters to you:

What was your last proper rant about? Mine was about teenagers transitioning, while arguing with a woke friend on Facebook. I sent her loads of links. I'm going to edit that and send it in.

And I'm going to tie it to the question on lowering the age of obtaining a GRC by taking about how doing that would lend legitimacy to teenage transition.

This is a brilliant idea, OP.

fastwigglylines · 27/11/2020 21:22

Thanks! :)

Wish I'd thought of it sooner and shared it wider!

But hopefully might inspire a couple of women. Still 2.5 hours left.

I submitted something! Thanks for the last minute reminder :)

Good ideas, OP. Thanks for posting. I’d sent my response in before seeing this, or the ReSisters page, and realised I should have included more personal testimony. So I emailed another few paragraphs to the committee asking if that could be added. I don’t know if it will, but worth a try.

Have you got a link to the evidence already online, Wiggly? Thanks.

fastwigglylines · 28/11/2020 01:22

They're online here:

Only up till the 25th at the moment. I'm very curious to see the rest!

I submitted mine at least a week ago and it’s not there....anyone else?

fastwigglylines · 28/11/2020 01:57

Oh weird!

Just read one outstanding statement and incredibly moved by the personal experiences of the trans widows . Thank you to the women that wrote this plus the others who have submitted their evidence also. I can only hope there was a last minute push ...

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 28/11/2020 09:16

Thanks OP. I’ve just read the first one, and thedepth ofthe delusion is frightening.
I have problems accessing health care, including my ability to book a COVID-19 test which requires me to input my gender as male or female. The NHS acknowledges non-binary identities; however, it can’t offer me the correct health screenings consistent with my need, it can only offer me the male or female screenings but not both, I must ask for these and be aware of what I need and when. This potentially puts me at risk of serious disease and illness if I am not diagnosed early on

The writer believes s/he physically has two sexes, affecting his/her bodily response to a virus.

Manderleyagain · 28/11/2020 10:20

Oh my god thinkingaboutlangcleg that's madness. Do you think they are a fifth columnist trying to make the trans rights look like complete loons?

testing987654321 · 28/11/2020 10:31

I've read a few which would fit that definition so far. I think I've laughed out loud at the outlandish arguments I've read so far.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 28/11/2020 11:01

Glaringly obvious mental health problems — potentially dangerous as in the recent case of a transman who had a late miscarriage — but doctors can’t or won’t refer them for psychiatric care because others ‘affirm’ their delusions. Manderley, sadly I think they’re genuinely deluded.

Aesopfable · 28/11/2020 12:52

Submitted but not of the standard I would like, especially as I didn’t have time to reference/evidence my argument. Still at least it was clear it wasn’t a template.

Aesopfable · 28/11/2020 12:55

I hope they have some actual experts submitting evidence, especially around VSC/DSD. I mean actual doctors with expertise in this area to refute some of those clearly ridiculous statements.
