Workplace diversity - sex Male Female Transgender

Hopefully not outing myself here but am doing some consultancy in a new workplace.

Tick ox on Sex is Male / Female / Transgender

Equalities policy recognises sex.

Felt emboldened enough to question diversity and discrimination training when gender was substituted for sex.

Do the majority here think the options offered are reasonable or is this a reasonable way forward?

No concessions to Rather not say or NB.

Sex is female/male
Gender reassignment is separate.

Because of the whole 'sex identify as' rubbish, I might even be persuaded to go with 'sex recorded at birth'.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 25/11/2020 22:46

How very dare they suggest that a transwoman is not female.

Thelnebriati · 25/11/2020 22:53

The way they ask question means the answers will be meaningless, they should ask about sex and gender reassignment as separate questions.

Its not a reasonable way to ask. They need to know the sex of their workforce for toilet provision, and for equality statistics.

You need sex: m/f/ prefer not to say
And potentially depending on why you're doing the survey, gender identity: man/woman/other (please specify)/prefer not to say.

Best practice is not to ask questions you don't need to ask. But male/female/tg is unlikely to give you enough info for much.
