Support for Caitlin McNamara, British woman sexually assaulted by Abu Dhabi "minister for tolerance"

I'm sure lots of you are familiar with this case - a young British woman was seriously assaulted in the UAE by a high profile Sheikh, when she met with him as part of her work for the Hay literary festival.
She bravely waived her right to anonymity last month in order to raise the profile of her case, but the British government has declined to take any action.

Stella Creasy asked this question in parliament today. Caitlin's mum is a good friend of my mum, and she has asked that this video be widely shared, viewed, commented on etc. Basically the more it is interacted with, the better chance of it staying on the government's agenda. Links to follow.

(Sorry I know the guardian isn't hugely popular here, but it was the most recent story I could find)

It’s a disgraceful decision by the CPS, and I agree with Helena Kennedy that the message it sends is that men who are economically important to the UK can commit crimes with impunity.

And having lived in the UAE, those Al Nahyans are a nasty lot.

Offtothedogs · 25/11/2020 20:31

Hardly is is absolutely disgusting, and yes it really does. I'm so upset and angry about this.

This infuriates me! How fucking dare they fail to intervene. I will share.

SophocIestheFox · 25/11/2020 22:08

Thanks for the links, off, have shared. Bloody disgusting that there will be no intervention.
